Energy Efficiency in the Food Industry: A Systematic Literature Review BABT
Pradella,Angela Morandini; Loures,Eduardo de Freitas Rocha; Costa,Sergio E. Gouvea da; Lima,Edson Pinheiro de.
Abstract Governments and private companies have increased efforts to identify effective actions for improving energy efficiency in manufacturing processes. The objective of this work is to improve the decision-making process by increasing the quality of information related to energy indicators in the food industry. This research involves developing a systematic literature review (SLR) to identify energy efficiency indicators in the food industry, which serve as inputs for a sectoral evaluation based on multicriteria techniques. The SLR identified six criteria evaluated by food industry experts, which form the proposed basis for evaluating the performance of related sectors. These criteria are: benchmarks, key performance indicators, framework, monitoring,...

A Successful Experience of Traceability System for the Case of Yin Chuan Organic Farm in Taiwan AgEcon
Huang, Wan-Tran; Chen, Ying-Houng.
In Taiwan, the traceability system (TS) of whole food chain is in infantile time. Yin Chuan Organic Farm, constituted by the team of rice production and marketing (TRPM), is the first brand in Taiwan rice market. The leader of TRPM is not only to produce the premising rice quality, but also to implement the (TS) that was introduced by Taiwan government with a great result and could be a successful experience passed to other proprietors. The findings of this paper are listed as following: 1. The TS executed by the case is only emphasized on the production side that needs to build more detailed marketing side. 2. The key successful factor to get sound TS model is to have obvious purposes and system harmony.

MANAGEMENT OF PERCEIVED RISKS IN E-BUSINESS FOR EFFICIENT FOOD SUPPLY NETWORK MANAGEMENT: THE CASE OF TRUST AgEcon
Fritz, Melanie; Canavari, Maurizio.
Vertical coordination in food networks is characterized by dynamically changing supply and marketing relationships. E-business provides support and improvement options for vertical coordination processes and flexible supply chain management in food networks. However, adoption of e-business in food networks is low as available e-business offers as the communication of safeguards for trust and control as basis for the transaction decision is not realized appropriately. This paper analyzes decision preferences for trust generation as basis for the design of e-business environments for supply chain management in food networks. The analytic hierarchy process is applied to prioritize preferences for different transaction scenarios in food networks.

Suitability assessment of olive plantations for Iberian Lynx habitat restoration AgEcon
Nekhay, Olexandr; Gonzalez-Arenas, J.; Arriaza Balmón, Manuel.
This study adopts a twofold methodological approach to assessing the suitability of agricultural areas for wildlife habitat restoration. Embedding expert judgements through an Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) about the effect of specific elements of the landscape on Iberian lynx (Lynx pardinus) habitat restoration potentiality as an indicator of selection of the most suitable agricultural areas to be transformed to the natural state (Mediterranean forest and scrublands). The case study is the olive (Olea europaea L.) plantations of the mountain areas of Andalusia (Spain) which, because of their low yield, are likely to be abandoned after the decoupling of the EU olive oil subsidies. The results suggest that the...
