Decision criteria for optimizing postemergence johnsongrass control in soybean crops in Argentina PAB
Tuesca,Daniel; Puricelli,Eduardo; Nisensohn,Luisa; Faccini,Delma; Papa,Juan.
Field studies were established in Zavalla and Oliveros, Argentina, during four years in order to optimize Johnsongrass (Sorghum halepense (L.) Pers.) chemical control by means of the thermal calendar model in comparison with other criteria (weed height or days after sowing). The effect of three application dates of postemergence herbicides was determined by visual control, density of tillers originated from rhizome bud regrowth, and from crown and shoot bud regrowth, and soybean yield. Following the thermal calendar model criterion, applications during the second date afforded the best control. Weed height for the first date showed little variability between experiments but was highly variable in the second and third application dates, achieving in some...

EFFECT OF TRINEXAPAC-ETHYL ON GROWTH AND YIELD OF SUGARCANE Planta Daninha
FARIA,A. T.; FERREIRA,E. A.; ROCHA,P. R. R.; SILVA,D. V.; SILVA,A. A.; FIALHO,C. M. T.; SILVA,A. F..
ABSTRACT Growth regulators can be used to further retard or inhibit vegetative growth. In this sense, the objective of this study was to determine the effects of age and number of trinexapac-ethyl applications on the growth and yield of sugarcane. The experiment was in a randomized complete block design with four replications. The treatments were in a 3 x 2 + 2 factorial arrangement, where factor A corresponded to the application times of the plant growth regulator (120, 200 and 240 days after bud burst (DAB) of sugarcane) and factor B to the number of applications (one or two applications). In addition, two controls (one with three applications and another application without the regulator) were added. The application of trinexapac-ethyl decreased the...

Nitrogen application timing and soil inorganic nitrogen dynamics under no-till oat/maize sequential cropping Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Solo
Dieckow,Jeferson; Meurer,Egon José; Salet,Roberto Luiz.
The timing of N application to maize is a key factor to be considered in no-till oat/maize sequential cropping. This study aimed to evaluate the influence of pre-planting, planting and sidedress N application on oat residue decomposition, on soil N immobilisation and remineralisation and on N uptake by maize plants in no-till oat/maize sequential cropping. Undisturbed soil cores of 10 and 20 cm diameter were collected from the 0-15 cm layer of a no-till Red Latossol, when the oat cover crop was in the milk-grain stage. Two greenhouse experiments were conducted simultaneously. Experiment A, established in the 10 cm diameter cores and without plant cultivation, was used to asses N dynamics in soil and oat residues. Experiment B, established in the 20 cm...
