Efecto del arsénico sobre plantas forrajeras de importancia pecuaria en la Argentina* InVet

En la Llanura Chacopampeana, Argentina, las especies forrajeras se encuentran expuestas al arsénico presente en el agua subterránea normalmente utilizada para riego. En este estudio se determinó el efecto del arsénico en la germinación de las semillas y en la biomasa aérea de alfalfa y ryegrass perenne. No se detectó un impacto significativo sobre el porcentaje de germinación en ninguna de las dos especies, pero si sobre las longitudes de hipocótilo de alfalfa y en las longitudes radiculares de ambas especies. Se observó una disminución de la biomasa en presencia de arsénico pero esta fue no significativa. High fluorine and other associated trace elements in waters from the south of the Pampean plain Phyton

We investigated the levels of F and its relationship with As, B and V in ground and surface waters of the southern Pampas, where cases of dental and skeletal fluorosis, and arsenic in hair and urine samples have been detected in the rural population. Eating vegetables and cereals grown in irrigated areas with excessive fluoride may increase the risk of fluorosis due to the addition of the extra F contributed from other sources such as drinking water. Moreover, if these elements exceed the tolerance of crops produce toxicity and, like salinity, they decrease the potential crop yield. Evaluation of arsenic and selenium in Brazilian soluble coffee by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry with hydride generation BABT

A method for the evaluation of arsenic and selenium in soluble coffee by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry with continuous hydride generation to attend the Brazilian food legislation is described. Samples were digested with nitric acid and hydrogen peroxide in a focused microwave system. Slow heating eliminated nitric acid and selenium (VI) was reduced to selenium (IV) by addition of 6 mol/L hydrochloric acid and heating at 90° C under a reflux system. The influence of sample acidity on sensitivity was investigated. Hydrochloric acid 6 mol/L was the most suitable reaction medium.
