Bacterial blight (BB) disease of rice, caused by Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo), is one of the most serious diseases in all major rice-growing areas of Thailand. The most effective approach to control BB is the use of resistant varieties. However, the selection pressure from the usage of resistant cultivars may result in mutation of the pathogen population to overcome the resistant genes. Therefore, using genetic resources conferring different resistant genes are more advantage in rice improvement. The aim of this research was to survey and screen for BB resistant genes in Thai local rice varieties from the National Rice Seed Storage Laboratory for Genetic Resources to gain more genetic diversity for the resistance. In this study, the Thai Local rice... |
