This study was designed to provide laboratory evidence supporting the hematopoietic effect of Beta vulgaris (beet) leaf aqueous extract in phenylhydrazine-induced anemia model in albino rats. Extraction of the leaves/stalks was done by maceration in 30% hydro-ethanol for 48 h. An intraperitoneal injection of 20 mg/kg phenylhydrazine was applied for two consecutive days to develop hemolytic anemia on the 4th day after the 1st injection in 24 of 30 male albino rats. The antioxidant capacity of beet is associated with non-nutritive constituents, such as phenolic compounds. The purpose of this research was to evaluate the effect of two different heat-processing techniques (drying and canned) on the antioxidant potential (ABTS) and phenolics content of beets. A forced air circulation dehydrator was used for the drying. Drying at high temperatures (100 + 90 °C/5.6 hours; 90 °C/6 hours) increased the antioxidant potential of the processed products while mild drying conditions decreased it (80 °C/6 hours; 100 + 70 °C/6 hours) or had no effect on it (70 °C/7 hours; 100 + 80 °C/6 hours). Sensibility of plant species to herbicides aminocyclopyrachlor and indaziflam Planta Daninha

Aminocyclopyrachlor and indaziflam are under development in Brazil and there is no information about their behavior in Brazilian soils. This study aimed to evaluate the sensitivity of plant species to these new molecules, trying to select plants that can be used as bioindicators for testing the behavior of these herbicides in the soil. Two experiments were conducted, one for each herbicide. The treatments were arranged in a 8 x 6 factorial design, the factors being represented by eight species used as bioindicators cotton, maize, soybean, sorghum, sunflower, millet, cucumber and beet, and six doses of herbicides (aminocyclopyrachlor - 0, 10 , 20, 30 , 40 and 50 g ha-1 and indaziflam 0 , 20, 40 , 60, 80 and 100 g ha-1).
