The effects of the subconjunctival injection of bevacizumab (Avastin®) on angiogenesis in the rat cornea Anais da ABC (AABC)
Barros,Luiz F.M.; Belfort-Jr,Rubens.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of the use of the subconjunctival injection of bevacizumab (Avastin®) on angiogenesis in the rat cornea. Corneas of 20 Wistar male rats were cauterized with silver nitrate crystal. Animals were divided in four groups: control group (GC) that received subconjunctivally 0.02 ml of 0.9% saline solution on the day of the lesion; group GO that received subconjunctivally 0.02 ml of bevacizumab just after the lesion; group G3 that received bevacizumab on day 3 and group G5 that received bevacizumab on day 5 after lesion. Animals were euthanized on day 7. The newly formed vessels were quantified after China Ink perfusion and photographs were obtained and analyzed in a computerized system (Image Pro-Plus®). In...

In Vivo investigation of radiolabeled Bevacizumab in healthy rat tissues BABT
Demir,Ilknur; Muftuler,Fazilet Zumrut Biber; Unak,Perihan; Acar,Cigdem.
In this study, BevMab was conjugated with the bifunctional chelating agent [diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid (DTPA)] and the product (BevMab-DTPA) was labeled with 99mTc using stannous chloride reducing method. The quality control studies of radiolabeled compound (99mTc-BevMab-DTPA) were done with Thin Layer Radio Chromatography (TLRC) and High Performance Liquid Radio Chromatography (HPLRC) methods (% 95 <) to confirm the labeling efficiency. High radiochemical yield [98.07 % ± 2.17 (n = 13)] was obtained by TLRC method. Biodistribution studies of 99mTc labeled BevMab-DTPA was run on healthy female and male Albino Wistar rats. The distribution figures demonstrated that the radiolabeled compound was eliminated through the kidneys and accumulated in...

Bevacizumab and gefitinib enhanced whole-brain radiation therapy for brain metastases due to non-small-cell lung cancer BJMBR
Yang,R.F.; Yu,B.; Zhang,R.Q.; Wang,X.H.; Li,C.; Wang,P.; Zhang,Y.; Han,B.; Gao,X.X.; Zhang,L.; Jiang,Z.M..
Non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients who experience brain metastases are usually associated with poor prognostic outcomes. This retrospective study proposed to assess whether bevacizumab or gefitinib can be used to improve the effectiveness of whole brain radiotherapy (WBRT) in managing patients with brain metastases. A total of 218 NSCLC patients with multiple brain metastases were retrospectively included in this study and were randomly allocated to bevacizumab-gefitinib-WBRT group (n=76), gefitinib-WBRT group (n=77) and WBRT group (n=75). Then, tumor responses were evaluated every 2 months based on Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors version 1.0. Karnofsky performance status and neurologic examination were documented every 6 months after...
