Relationship between cultivation mode of white rot fungi and their efficiency for olive oil mill wastewaters treatment Electron. J. Biotechnol.
Alaoui,Sanae Mdaghri; Merzouki,Mohamed; Penninckx,Michel J; Benlemlih,Mohamed.
Four white rot fungi (WRF) strains, Phanerochaete chrysosporium, Trametes versicolor, Coriolopsis polyzona and Pycnoporus coccineus, were tested for efficiency of treatment of Olive Oil mill wastewaters (OOMW) in relation with their cultivation mode, i.e. under the form of free mycelium, mycelium immobilized in alginate beads and solid state cultivation on Petri dishes. Study of biodegradation of phenolic compounds, chemical oxygen demand (COD) decrease and decolourisation of OOMW have shown that Coriolopsis polyzona and Pycnoporus coccineus degradation performances were apparently only slightly affected by the cell cultivation procedures experienced here. In contrast, Phanerochaete chrysosporium and Trametes versicolor showed respectively marked...

Biotreatment effects in films and blends of PVC/PCL previously treated with heat BABT
Campos,Adriana de; Franchetti,Sandra Mara Martins.
Studies were carried out on biomodification and the pre-heat (130(0)C) influence on Poly (vinyl chloride) / Poly (epsilon-caprolactone) films. The results showed that heat pre-treatment improved the biomodification of PVC films, but it inhibited the biomodification of the PVC/PCL film.

Effect of acid hydrolysis and fungal biotreatment on agro-industrial wastes for obtainment of free sugars for bioethanol production BJM
El-Tayeb,T.S.; Abdelhafez,A.A.; Ali,S.H.; Ramadan,E.M..
This study was designed to evaluate selected chemical and microbiological treatments for the conversion of certain local agro-industrial wastes (rice straw, corn stalks, sawdust, sugar beet waste and sugarcane bagasse) to ethanol. The chemical composition of these feedstocks was determined. Conversion of wastes to free sugars by acid hydrolysis varied from one treatment to another. In single-stage dilute acid hydrolysis, increasing acid concentration from 1 % (v/v) to 5 % (v/v) decreased the conversion percentage of almost all treated agro-industrial wastes. Lower conversion percentages for some treatments were obtained when increasing the residence time from 90 to 120min. The two-stage dilute acid hydrolysis by phosphoric acid (1.0 % v/v) followed by...

Biotransformation of poly (epsilon-caprolactone) and poly (vinyl chloride) blend BJM
Campos,Adriana de; Franchetti,Sandra Mara Martins; Agnelli,José Augusto Marcondes.
Poly (caprolactone) is a famous biodegradable polymer and miscible with PVC, a commercial synthetic polymer, thermal susceptible and non-biodegradable. This blend is important concerning its mechanical properties and biodegradability. In this work, we testified the biomodification of blend films of PVC/PCL by UV-Vis. spectroscopy. The results show us that there is an interaction between the PVC/PCL film and the microrganisms.
