Application of brassinosteroid to Tabebuia alba (Bignoniaceae) plants Rev. Bras. Fisiol. Veg.
ONO,ELIZABETH ORIKA; NAKAMURA,TERUKO; MACHADO,SÍLVIA RODRIGUES; RODRIGUES,JOÃO DOMINGOS.
The objective of this study was to observe the effects of brassinosteroid, gibberelin, and auxin application on the development and foliar anatomy of Tabebuia alba (Cham.) Sandw. seedlings. T. alba seedlings were grown in plastic bags with fertilized soil and treated with the following: 1- water (control); 2- brassinolide (BR1) 0.104 mM; 3- BR1 0.208 mM; 4- 3-indoleacetic acid (IAA) 0.2854 mM; 5- IAA 0.5708 mM; 6- GA3 (gibberellin A3) 0.1443 mM; 7- GA3 0.2887 mM; 8- GA3 0.072 mM + IAA 0.1427 mM; 9- GA3 0.1443 mM + IAA 0.2854 mM; 10- GA3 0.072 mM + BR1 0.052 mM; and 11- GA3 0.1443 mM + BR1 0.104 mM. Plant height and petiole length were measured before the treatments and 21 days after application of the growth regulators. These data allowed the calculation...

Brassinosteroids are the plant hormone reported to alleviate heat stress. This study investigated the response of rice (Oryza sativa L.cv. Pathum Thani 1) to 24-epibrassinolide (EBR) or 7,8-dihydro-8-20-hydroxyecdysone (DHECD) under high temperature by examine photosynthesis performance and yield. The results show that foliar application of 0.01 μM EBR and 0.1 μM DHECD on V7 vegetative growth could increase the photosynthetic efficiency under 40/30 ºC (day/night temperature). In field growth experiment, the application of those brassinosteroids concentrations on V7 growth stage could increase seed setting in all panicle part and number of normal seeds per particle. The results indicated that EBR and DHECD alleviated heat stress of rice ‘Pathum Thani 1’ by...

Brassinosteroids Reciprocates Heavy Metals Induced Oxidative Stress in Radish by Regulating the Expression of Key Antioxidant Enzyme Genes BABT
Sharma,Indu; Sharma,Ashutosh; Pati,Pratap; Bhardwaj,Renu.
ABSTRACT Heavy metal toxicity in plants lead to accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Antioxidant enzyme system is also not able to revert altered ROS homeostasis. The present study reports the heavy metal induced ROS toxicity by up-regulating the expression of key antioxidant enzyme genes through Brassinosteroids pre-soaking treatment in radish.

Brassinosteroid phytohormones: structure, bioactivity and applications Braz. J. Plant Physiol.
Zullo,Marco António Teixeira; Adam,Günter.
Brassinosteroids are a new class of plant hormones with a polyoxygenated steroid structure showing pronounced plant growth regulatory activity. This review covers their natural occurrence, biological and chromatographic methods for their detection, biosynthesis and metabolism, biological activity, structure-activity relationships and prospective agricultural uses.

Effect of 28-homobrassinolide on growth, zinc metal uptake and antioxidative enzyme activities in Brassica juncea L. seedlings Braz. J. Plant Physiol.
Sharma,Priyanka; Bhardwaj,Renu; Arora,Nitika; Arora,Hardesh Kumar.
The present work was undertaken to study the effects of 28-homobrassinolide on growth, zinc metal uptake, antioxidative enzyme [guaiacol peroxidase (EC 1.11.1.7), catalase (EC 1.11.1.6), glutathione reductase (EC 1.6.4.2), ascorbate peroxidase (EC 1.11.1.11), superoxide dismutase (EC 1.15.1.1)] activities and protein content in 7-d-old seedlings of Brassica juncea L. treated with Zn metal at different concentrations. 28-homobrassinolide at 10-9 M concentration lowered Zn uptake and bioconcentration factor. Different concentrations of Zn-metal treatment alone decreased the enzyme activities and protein concentration of seedlings. However, pre-sowing treatments of 28homobrassinolide lowered the uptake of metal and enhanced the activities of enzymes and...

24-epibrassinolide regulated diminution of Cr metal toxicity in Brassica juncea L. plants Braz. J. Plant Physiol.
Arora,Priya; Bhardwaj,Renu; Kanwar,Mukesh Kumar.
The present work was undertaken to study the effects of 24-epibrassinolide (0, 10-10, 10-8 and 10-6 M) on growth (shoot length and number of leaves), protein content and activities of antioxidative enzymes [guaiacol peroxidase (EC 1.11.1.7), catalase (EC 1.11.1.6), glutathione reductase (EC 1.6.4.2), ascorbate peroxidase (EC 1.11.1.11), superoxide dismutase (EC 1.15.1.1), monodehydroascorbate reductase (EC 1.1.5.4) and dehydroascorbate reductase (EC 1.8.5.1)] in leaves of 60 days-old Brassica juncea L. plants treated with different concentrations of Cr metal. It was observed that treatment of different concentrations (0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 mM) of Cr metal alone decreased the shoot length and number of leaves and regulated the enzyme activities and...
