Valorisation des rejets urbains et thermiques en zone littorale - Production primaire ArchiMer
Bazzon, H.; Lepailleur, M.; Rogger, M..
Discharges of urban sewage water and waste heat from industries or power plants can be used in modern saltwater aquaculture. Urban sewage water diluted to 30 % in seawater which temperature is increased of 10 to 15° C gives a primary productivity equal to the productivity of a standard culture medium. That bio-treatment which includes the addition of calories to the seawater, eliminates up to 90 % of the phosphorus and the nitrates.

Will Eating More Vegetables Trim Our Body Weight? AgEcon
Wendt, Minh; Lin, Biing-Hwan.
The purpose of the study is to examine the dietary consequences of greater consumption of vegetables by type and source. Dietary outcomes include calorie intake, USDA’s healthy eating index (HEI) scores, and intakes of fiber and sodium. We fit a fixed-effects model with two-day intake data from the 2003-4 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Our results suggest that the effect of vegetable consumption on diet varies greatly by type of vegetables and where the food is prepared. As stated in the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, ―Eating [vegetables and fruits] instead of higher calorie foods can help adults and children achieve and maintain a healthy weight. Our results support the statement and call for attention to how to incorporate...

Commodity Price Volatility and Nutrition Vulnerability AgEcon
Verma, Monika; Hertel, Thomas W..
In this paper we examine the impact of commodity price volatility on nutritional attainment of households at the nutritional poverty line in Bangladesh. We focus on the first two moments of the distribution of nutrition and consider the differential impacts across socio-economic groups within the country. We also examine the direction and magnitude of the shift in these moments as a result of implementation of special safeguards measures aimed at preventing import surges.
