NEW RECORDS OF SHRIMPS (DECAPODA: CARIDEA AND DENDROBRANCHIATA) IN DEEP WATERS OFF CHILE Gayana
Guzmán,Guillermo; Quiroga,Eduardo.
Species of shrimps are revised based on bibliographic information and on specimens collected with an Agassiz trawl (AGT) during the PUCK-156 Expedition (2001) onboard R/V Sonne in three areas along Chilean coast; off Antofagasta (22° lat. S), off Concepción (36°lat. S) and off Chiloé (42° lat. S). 111 specimens belonging to 12 species were collected, including three new records for the Chilean fauna; Metacrangon procax, Nematocarcinus productus, and Merhyppolite sp. aff. M. americana. Presence of Nematocarcinus lanceopes, Lebbeus antarcticus, Pandalopsis ampla and Sclerocrangon atrox in the collected material allows extension of their distributional ranges from sub-Antarctic to temperate areas

Relative growth and sexual maturity of the freshwater shrimp Palaemon pandaliformis (Crustacea, Palaemonidae) in northeastern of Brazil (Canavieiras, Bahia) Iheringia, Sér. Zool.
Paschoal,Lucas R. P.; Guimarães,Fernanda J.; Couto,Erminda C. G..
This study comprises the description of relative growth and sexual maturity of a population of Palaemon pandaliformis Stimpson, 1871 in Salsa River (Northeastern Brazil). Samples were collected monthly between September 2009 and August 2010. Females were larger, heavier, and showed a greater allometric coefficient (b) than male specimens. Only carapace length vs. pleura length in females presented a significant difference in the relative growth pattern, indicating a puberty moult. This relationship is strictly correlated to reproduction and its success rate in female shrimps. Estimated carapace length in 50% of mature females (CL50) was 4.53 mm. It was not possible to compare obtained CL50 results due to a lack of studies on this species. Comparison was...

Les Caridea (Crustacea: Decapoda) des Herbiers de Phanérogames Marines de Nouvelle-Caledonie (Région de Nouméa) (Systématiquee, écologie, variations Nycthémèrales et vicariance) Naturalis
Ledoyer, M..
This study deals with Caridean fauna living between the leaves of New-Caledonian seagrassmeadows (Cymodocea sp. principally) from zero to about eight meters and sampled during day and night. Twenty species (all figured) were caught (excluding Alpheidae). All are known. Nevertheless, in some cases, small variations have been observed by comparison with the same species from other areas. Presently, 70 species are recognized from New-Caledonian marine waters, including the 17 species reported in this papier for the first time from that region. Comparison with Caridean fauna of seagrass-meadows of other areas (Australia, Japan, Madagascar) shows a very important resemblance between them.

Palaemon vicinus spec. nov. (Crustacea: Decapoda: Palaemonidae), a new species of caridean shrimp from the tropical eastern Atlantic Naturalis
Ashelby, C.W..
A new species of Palaemon, P. vicinus spec. nov., is described from the tropical eastern Atlantic. The new species is very close to P. elegans Rathke, 1837, under which name it was previously recorded from West Africa. Palaemon vicinus spec. nov. is easily separated from P. elegans by possessing a small tooth on the fifth abdominal pleuron (quadrate in P. elegans) and by having 2-3 rows of setae in the grooming brush of the fifth pereiopod (4-5 in P. elegans). The discovery of the new species amongst material identified as P. elegans further highlights the need to reassess species level characters in the genus Palaemon.
