Modalities for soil preparation and gypsum application in ultisol: stem productivity of sugarcane REA
Lima,Ronaldo C.; Mello,Luiz M. M. de; Yano,Élcio H.; Silva,José O. R. da; Cesarin,André L..
The study was conducted in an area of expansion of sugarcane at Vale do Paraná factory in Suzanápolis city - São Paulo (SP), in Brazil, in the northwestern region of the State of São Paulo. It was used the sugarcane variety RB92-5345, 1.5m of spacing between rows, in an Ultisol. The study aimed to evaluate the productivity of sugarcane and first ratoon and some soil chemical attributes in function of soil tillage and application or not of gypsum. The experimental design was randomized blocks with six treatments, in a factorial 3x2 and six replicates, the main treatments were soil tillage with three equipments, moldboard plow, chisel plow, and heavy harrow, and two secondary treatments with application of 1 t ha-1of gypsum and no gypsum. After each harvest...

Characteristics of Soils in Highland Wetlands as a Subsidy to Identifying and Setting their Limits Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Solo
Warmling,Maria Tereza; Albuquerque,Jackson Adriano; Almeida,Jaime Antonio de; Warmling,Maria Izabel.
ABSTRACT Palustrine areas and wetlands in particular are fragile ecosystems, with high biodiversity and high ecological productivity, and they provide benefits to society. The aim of this study was to describe and classify the main soils occurring in the wetlands of the Southern Plateau of Santa Catarina, and propose criteria for identification of hydromorphic environments as an aid in demarcation of their boundaries. Soils of four wetlands, in the municipalities of Bom Jardim da Serra, Bom Retiro, Lages, and Painel were described, collected, and taxonomically classified. A transection was demarcated in each one in which soils were analyzed in sites with different degrees of hydromorphism, corresponding to the inner, transition, and outer areas. In...

Association between parent materials and soil attributes along different geological environments in western Pará, Brazil Acta Amazonica
BARROS,Gerson Moreira; SANTOS,Jean Cheyson Barros dos; SOUZA JÚNIOR,Valdomiro Severino de; DELARMELINDA,Elaine Almeida; ARAÚJO FILHO,José Coelho de; CÂMARA,Elis Regina Guimarães.
ABSTRACT The expansion of the agricultural frontier into different geological environments in the west of the state of Pará, northern Brazil, makes it necessary to know the influence of the parent material on local soil attributes. This study aimed to evaluate the influence of different parent materials on five soil profiles along a lithosequence exposed by the BR-163 highway, which runs from north to south through western Pará. The soils were classified, morphologically described and their main horizons sampled for physical, mineralogical and chemical analyses, including the determination of micronutrients, forms of phosphorus and secondary forms of iron. Multivariate analysis was used to group the different soil-parent material associations. The results...
