Five organic soil amendments were evaluated for their nematicide effect on root-knot Meloidogyne ethiopica Whitehead, 1968, on potted Vitis vinifera L. var. Chardonnay plants. The amendments included two immature composts: Compost A made with tea (Camellia sinensis (L.) Kuntze) residues, broiler litter and grape pomace; Compost B made with tea residues, rachis and grape pomace; and separately dried tea residues, grape pomace and broiler litter. These amendments were either incorporated or applied as cover to the substrate in 5 L pots at the beginning of spring. A chemical treatment with the nematicide fenamiphos and a control with substrate only were added for comparisons. The assay was composed of 11 treatments with six replicates, with a grape plant as... |

ABSTRACT: In alkalinized and Ca-rich composts, solubilization of apatite from phosphate rocks (PRs) is not guaranteed; however, chelating agents and humified substances produced during composting may alter the soluble contents and P forms of monoammonium phosphate (MAP)-based composts. These effects may depend on the proportions of organic wastes and P source used in the compost piles. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of composting chicken manure, coffee husk, and Araxá PR, Bayóvar PR, or MAP in different proportions on the organic matter decomposition, total N, Ca contents, and soluble P fractions in the composts. The treatments consisted of a 3 × 4 × 2 factorial, through the combination of three P sources [Araxá PR, Bayóvar PR, and MAP],... |

Growing sugarcane (K95-84) on coarse-textured, Satuk soil (Typic Paleustult) in farmer’s field of Sikhiu district, Nakhon Ratchasima province, was aimed at examining the effect of rice husk-mixed chicken manure and Zn, Fe foliar application on cane yield and nutrient concentration in leaf of the plant. The experimental design was 2 x 6 factorial in randomized complete block with four replications, comprising two factors as follow; 1) no manure and rice-husk-mixed chicken manure application (1000 kg/rai) and 2) no foliar application, Zn foliar application (3 kg/rai) once, twice, and three times, Zn+Fe application (3 and 0.8 kg/rai, respectively) once, and twice. This application was conducted at two-, three- and four-month after planting. All plots were... |
