REGIONAL ASPECTS OF AGRICULTURAL INCOME LEVEL IN VOJVODINA PROVINCE IN FUNCTION OF BASIC PRODUCTION FACTORS AgEcon
Cobanovic, Katarina; Nikolic-Doric, Emilija; Mutavdzic, Beba.
In the present research the analysis of the level of national income in agriculture was done for different districts and municipalities of the Province of Vojvodina. The analysis of the achieved level of national income in agriculture in function of the most important factors was performed on the base of classical form the traditional non-linear regression model of Cobb-Douglas production function with labour and capital as predictors and on the extended form of Cobb-Douglas function which in addition includes the arable areas.

COMPARISON OF AGRICULTURAL FARM EFFICIENCY IN SLOVAK REGIONS BEFORE AND AFTER EU ACCESSION AgEcon
Sojkova, Z.; Kropkova, Z.; Kovae, S..
This paper presents results of stochastic parametric approach used in estimation of farm technical efficiency. The estimation of output oriented technical efficiency was based on Stochastic Frontier analysis with Cobb-Douglas production function. Model specification for empirical application were employed Battese and Coelli 1995 model specification, where technical inefficiency effects are explicitly expressed as a function of a vector of firm-specific variables and random error and integrated in the stochastic frontier model. Model also included dummy variable which expressed production conditions in which Slovak farms are operating. We divided farms into two groups of production conditions: productive regions (PR) and less favorable area (LFA) regions....

The Theoretical Structure of Producer Willingness to Pay Estimates AgEcon
Zapata, Samuel D.; Carpio, Carlos E..
This paper analyzes the theoretical underpinnings of producers’ willingness to pay (WTP) for novel inputs. In addition to conceptualizing the WTP function for producers, we derive its comparative statics and demonstrate the use of these properties to estimate input quantities demanded, outputs supplied, and price elasticities. We also discuss implications of the comparative statics results for the specification of empirical producer WTP models and survey design.

Modelling The Cattle Breeding Production in the Czech Republic AgEcon
Mach, Jiri; Kristkova, Zuzana.
This paper proves that the use of the Cobb-Douglas form of production function is suitable for modelling the technological efficiency of selected production factors used in cattle breeding. Furthermore, it is possible to use the estimated function to analyse economic efficiency, considering also the prices of the production factors. The results of the econometric estimation show that higher initial weight affects negatively the dynamics of weight gain. Analysing the efficiency of the two main feedstuff components, i.e. the haylage and hay, it was found out that the increases in weight react inelastically with respect to the volume of feedstuffs, which is in line with the physiological limits of the animal production. The results further reveal that the...

Measurement of the technical efficiency of small pineapple farmers in Santander, Colombia: a stochastic frontier approach Rev. Econ. Sociol. Rural
Trujillo,Juan C.; Iglesias,Wilman J..
The objective of this study is to estimate the levels of technical efficiency of the small pineapple farmers of Santander, Colombia, using the stochastic frontier approach. In addition, this study attempts to determine whether the acreage and some of the socio-economic characteristics of farmers can influence the efficiency of their pineapple farms. By exploiting the information that was gathered in a survey of 194 pineapple farmers in the region, these farmers' technical efficiency was estimated using a Cobb-Douglas-type stochastic frontier model and a technical inefficiency model. The results suggest that acreage and the variables that are associated with the human capital, e.g., the level of schooling and the years of experience in agricultural...
