Tres citas nuevas del género Ischnoptera Burmeister, 1838 (Blattellinae, Blattellidae, Blattaria) para Uruguay Entomología
del C. Valverde,Alejandra; Crespo,Francisco A..
The number of species of the genus Ischnoptera reported from Uruguay is doubled, increasing its number to 6. Ischnoptera argentina Hebard, 1921; I. bilunata Saussure, 1869; and I. litostylata Hebard, 1921 are reported for the first time. The available information on the species distribution is mapped.

Ecological niche models for four native cockroach species (Blattaria: Blattellidae: Ectobiinae) in the Netherlands Naturalis
Ciliberti, P.; Jong, H. de; Schouten, M.A.; Verweij, P.A.; Heitmans, W.R.B..
This paper aims at modelling the spatial distribution of the cockroach species Capraiellus panzeri, Ectobius lapponicus, Ectobius pallidus and Ectobius sylvestris within the Netherlands and comparing the habitat preferences of these species. Maxent was used to calculate habitat suitability and to identify environmental variables underlying the differences in observed distribution patterns. A sub-sampling procedure was employed to test model stability. Models were evaluated by calculating the Area Under the Curve (AUC). The analyses show that except for the costal dune area, the western part of the Netherlands is unsuitable for the species. Suitability predictions for C. panzeri, E. lapponicus and E. sylvestris are very similar, with suitable areas...

Contributions to the knowledge of Hypercompsa, new register from Argentina (Blattaria: Corydiidae) Rev. Soc. Entomol. Argent.
Crespo,Francisco A.; Di Iorio,Osvaldo; Valverde,Alejandra del C..
Hypercompsa fieberi (Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1865) from Argentina is registered for the first time and the cockroach particular habitat associated with the ant nest of Acromyrmex lundi (Guérin, 1838) is described. All species included in the genus are georeferenced and their distribution is shown in a map.

There are more asthmatics in homes with high cockroach infestation BJMBR
Sarinho,E.; Schor,D.; Veloso,M.A.; Rizzo,J.A..
Although asthma has been commonly associated with sensitivity to cockroaches, a clear causal relationship between asthma, allergy to cockroaches and exposure levels has not been extensively investigated. The objective of the present study was to determine whether asthma occurs more frequently in children living in homes with high cockroach infestation. The intensity of household infestation was assessed by the number of dead insects after professional pesticide application. Children living in these houses in the metropolitan area of Recife, PE, were diagnosed as having asthma by means of a questionnaire based on the ISAAC study. All children had physician-diagnosed asthma and at least one acute exacerbation in the past year. Children of both sexes aged 4...
