| This paper discusses the evolution of agricultural products comparative advantages in the state of Paraná foreign trade from 1989-2001, and verifies the predominant type of trade for those products. The methodology is based on calculation of indicators of Revealed Comparative Advantage (Balassa, 1965), Covering Tax and Intraindustry Trade (Grubel & Lloyd, 1975). Results regarding comparative advantages of agricultural products that belong to the Section II of NBM-NCM, showed that the chapters Coffee, tea, mate and spices and Oilseeds and oleaginous fruits, grains etc., are “strong points” of Paraná economy. | The paper analyses the Brazilian agricultural trade with the European Union (EU), in the context of the negotiations for a commercial agreement between Mercosur and the EU. We calculate indexes of revealed comparative advantages (RCA) and regional orientation (RO), for the period from 1991 to 2001. We selected the following products: soybeans, orange juice, tobacco, chicken meat, bovine meat, sugar and coffee. Altogether, these products corresponded to more than 20% of total Brazilian exports in that period. The products that show the highest Brazilian participation in world trade are soybeans, orange juice and coffee. | ABSTRACT: Olive is one of the strategic products of Guilan province, northern Iran. Hence, it is very important to determine the optimal production pattern of olive, given the resources scarcity and the assessment of physical and Comparative Advantage (CA). In this study, three physical advantage indices for olive production in Guilan province during 2008-2016 were investigated. Also, the CA, protection and competitiveness indicators of olive production at Guilan province for 2016-17 cultivation years were calculated using the Policy Analysis Matrix (PAM).
