Slow quasigeostrophic unstable modes of a lens vortex in a continuously stratified flow ArchiMer

This work addresses the linear dynamics underlying the formation of density interfaces at the periphery of energetic vortices, well outside the vortex core, both in the radial and axial directions. We compute numerically the unstable modes of an anticyclonic Gaussian vortex lens in a continuously stratified rotating fluid. The most unstable mode is a slow mode, associated with a critical layer instability located at the vortex periphery. Although the most unstable disturbance has a characteristic vertical scale which is comparable to the vortex height, interestingly, the critical levels of the successively fastest growing modes are closely spaced at intervals along the axial direction that are much smaller than the vortex height.

Influência de calagem e adubação fosfatada no crescimento inicial de eucalipto e nos níveis críticos de P PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira

O efeito da aplicação combinada de calagem e adubação fosfatada nos níveis críticos do solo e da planta em Eucalyptus dunnii foi estudado em condições de vaso. Os tratamentos consistiram na combinação de três níveis de calagem (C0, sem calagem; C1/2, metade da dose para elevar o pH em água a 5,5 pelo método do pH SMP; C1, dose para elevar o pH em água a 5,5 pelo método do pH SMP) e cinco doses de fósforo (0; 50; 150; 300 e 600 mg de P kg-1 de solo). O experimento foi conduzido por 67 dias em casa de vegetação não climatizada, utilizando um Cambissolo Húmico Ta Alumínico Típico. ABSTRACT: In banana cultivation, fertilization recommendations are almost exclusively based on soil chemical analysis, without considering leaf analysis and expected yield, which can help in the adjustment of fertilization programs. The aim of this study was to develop a method to recommend macronutrient fertilization rates which integrates data on leaf analysis, soil chemical analysis, and yield. The current high price of KCl and great dependence on importation to satisfy the Brazilian demand indicate the need for studies that evaluate the efficiency of other K sources, particularly those based on domestic raw material. For this purpose, a greenhouse experiment was conducted with samples of a sandy clay loam Typic Haplustox, in a completely randomized 4 x 3 x 2 factorial design: four K rates (0, 60, 120, and 180 mg kg-1), three sources (potassium chloride (KCl), fused magnesium potassium phosphate (FMPP) and a mixture of 70 % FMPP + 30 % KCl) and two particle sizes (100 and 60 mesh), with three replications. Research suggest that the Diagnosis and Recommendation Integrated System (DRIS) has the capacity to evaluate the nutritional status of coffee plantations, regardless of environmental conditions. The primary purpose of this study was to assess potassium (K) fertilization on long-term (>30 years) no-tillage soybean, corn, wheat, and barley crops grown in rotation on Oxisols in the central-southern region of Paraná. Phosphorus (P) plays an important role in the growth of root system as well as the tillering grass, being fundamental to increase the productivity of these species. The aim of this study was to evaluate the development of buffel grass cultivars and establish critical values of P in plant and soil. The experimental set up was a 4 x 5 factorial scheme (four Cenchrus ciliaris cvs.: Biloela, Aridus, CPATSA 7754 and Pusa Giant, and five doses of P2O5 - 0, 30, 60, 90 and 120 kg ha-1) with four replications. Alfalfa cultivar Crioula (Medicago sativa cv. Crioula) is grown in South Brazil and only a few studies on the plants' boron requirement are available. A greenhouse experiment was carried out with alfalfa to measure boron acquisition, production and distribution in the plant; data on critical level and production potentials were recorded. Plants were grown in ground quartz added with 1 L of solution, with the following boron rates: 0, 0.0625, 0.125, 0.25, 0.50, 1.00, and 2.00 mg L-1. Plants were harvested at 46 days of growth. O objetivo deste trabalho foi selecionar índices para diagnóstico do estado de nitrogênio de batata-semente básica em vaso e determinar valor crítico de cada índice selecionado. Os índices, medidos na quarta folha (QF) e folha velha, aos 60 dias após o plantio, foram: intensidade do verde (determinado por tabela de cor e SPAD); área, comprimento, largura, número de folíolos, matéria fresca e seca; teor N-NO3 na seiva do pecíolo e N na matéria seca. Foram realizados três experimentos em vaso, em casa de vegetação, Universidade Federal de Viçosa. Para avaliar a dose e a forma de aplicação de sulfato de zinco foliar no crescimento e produtividade do cafeeiro Mundo Novo, instalou-se um experimento de campo em LATOSSOLO VERMELHO Distroférrico, na Fazenda Experimental da Epamig em São Sebastião do Paraíso. O delineamento experimental foi em blocos casualizados, em esquema fatorial 4 x 2, com cinco repetições e parcela de 30 plantas com seis úteis. As quantidades de sulfato de zinco (ZnSO4) foram aplicadas nas concentrações de 0; 0,5; 1,0 e 1,5%, testadas em duas ou quatro aplicações por ano agrícola.
