Combine header loss comprises more than 50% of wheat harvesting losses. Therefore, decline in this part of the loss to the extent allowed amount is an important step in reducing of crop wastes. Combine header is a complex system in which several factors are involved in its work. And, if these factors can be adjusted and controlled to suit the working conditions, to a large extent of crop loss can be prevented during the harvest. In this study, reel index, cutting height of crop and horizontal and vertical distance of reel from cutter bar were selected as the effective factors in header loss. In response surface method, central composite design was used to modeling and finding optimal levels of mentioned factors. The results showed that power model... |

ABSTRACT Sugarcane mechanized harvesting can lead to serious risks to the longevity of plantations when improperly operated, and may cause damages and disturbances in the remaining ratoons in the field. In this sense, this study aimed to evaluate the damage and disturbance to the sugarcane ratoons by the base cutting quality of two-blade models through statistical process control. The experiment was carried out during the 2015/16 growing season in an agricultural area of the Moreno Mill, located in Cravinhos, São Paulo, Brazil. The sugarcane harvester models A8800 (Machine 1) and BE1035 (Machine 2). The sugarcane variety cultivated in both treatments was SP80-1816. Thirty points were sampled per harvester, with 10-minute intervals between them. Equations... |

Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of intercropping systems between corn and tropical forages, at different cutting heights, on silage production, light interception, land use efficiency, intercropping competition factors, and pasture production. In the 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 crop seasons, two cultivation modalities were evaluated in the summer/autumn - monocropped corn with residual regrowth of signal grass (Urochloa decumbens) from the soil seed bank and corn intercropped with palisade grass (U. brizantha 'Marandu') -, in a factorial arrangement with two cutting heights for silage production - 0.20 and 0.45 m. After corn silage harvest, the forages were grazed by lambs in a semi-feedlot system, in the winter/spring.... |

This study evaluated the morphological development of two populations of tough lovegrass during 120 days of continuous growth (Experiment I), and the regrowth of one population under the combination of cutting height (5 cm and 10 cm) and phenological stage at the first cutting (vegetative and beginning of flowering; Experiment II). In Experiment I, plants were harvested at 30, 60, 90 and 120 days of growth; in Experiment II, three cuttings were carried out at every 30 days, and the plants were harvested four weeks after the previous one. In Experiment I, the populations did not differ for morphological development, showing a linear increase in height and tiller number, and a quadratic trend for root and shoot dry matter (DM). At 120 days of growth, plants... |
