Ecophysiologie de la reproduction chez l'huître creuse, Crassostrea gigas ArchiMer
Pouvreau, Stephane; Lepennec, M.
The reproductive cycle of Megathura crenulata was documented and quantification of oocyte lipid reserves with lipo-specific stains was explored in both this species and in Crassostrea gigas. The necessity of providing food to female broodstock C. gigas in spring was re-evaluated, because subsequent larval and post-larval rearing performance was not affected by broodstock starvation during conditioning. Developmental study of the organs responsible of particle processing in C. gigas allowed the identification of critical stages related to the ontogenesis of each organ, as well as a better understanding of the evolution of these organs, highly-modified in the Ostreidae. Ciliary type identification and mucocyte mapping from post-larval to adult stage showed...

Microflambage et rigidite des composites a fibres longues: Theorie et experiences ArchiMer
Ferron, G; Cardin, C; Grandidier, J; Potier, F.
An original flexion-compression device designed for investigating the elastic behaviour in compression is presented, and the effect of the loading mode on the characteristics of failure is then described. Results on glass-epoxy resin unidirectional composites and laminates are discussed. In the literature the failure of laminated in compression is often ascribed to a mechanism of fiber microbuckling. To discuss the quality of these models, a periodic array of stiff and soft layers is analysed by an asymptotic method. The results are compared with those in the literature and with experimental observations.

In a document from the General Secretariat of the Merchant Navy (P. 3 - MJ - June 1976), it is written: The coast is a rare asset, limited in essence as it is not interchangeable. Moreover, it is coveted and used by numerous users, sometimes aggressive or very powerful, who often take up the areas that are the richest from a biological point of view. This reality is at the origin of a number of land occupancy issues, all the more when a rational or enhancive preliminary choice has not been made. It can also lead to damages or pollutions, the coastal area being more exposed as rivers carry all the effluents which flow into them from their source to the ocean". Witnessing this competition, it appears that marine cultures need to be considered as very...

La conchyliculture en Méditerranée française ArchiMer
Raimbault, René.
Until now, French Mediterranean shellfish culture was only carried out at relatively sheltered sites: some salted lagoons in Languedoc-Roussillon and Corsica and in the roadsted of Toulon The shellfish culture area of the Thau lagoon spreads out over about 1,200 hectares, that of Leucate over 140 hectares; in Corsica, shellfish farming is carried out on small rafts distributed among the different lagoons (around 80 in Diana and 50 in Urbino). In the roadsted of Toulon, most of the farms are about to close down. According to official figures, the Mediterranean production amounts to about 10,000 tonnes. In reality, the Thau lagoon production alone amounts to, at least, double this tonnage (HAMON et TOURNIER, 1981). It corresponds to at least 90 % of the...

Contribution à l'étude de l'ontogenèse du système immunitaire chez l'huître creuse Crassostrea gigas ArchiMer
Tirape Bajana, Ana.
The interest for the understanding of the immune mechanisms in the oyster, Crassotrea gigas has been considerably increased these last years, mainly because of economie losses due to diseases which affected the continuity of this species. The studies of these mechanisms contributes to a better understanding of the differential susceptibilities observed in this species against various pathogens. In the present study, our  goal was to define the ontogenesis of immune system in C. gigas during the development, by functional genomic approaches. The studies have been focalized on the analyses of expression and localization of effectors previously identified in adult oysters as implicated in immunity. We have shown, in particular, that hemocytes appear in the...
