Calidad de la carne y comportamiento productivo de corderos alimentados con granos secos de destilería en la dieta. Colegio de Postgraduados
Curzaynz Leyva, Karym Roberto.

Distillers Dried Grain Product Innovation and Its Impact on Adoption, Inclusion, Substitution, and Displacement Rates in a Finishing Hog Ration AgEcon
Fabiosa, Jacinto F..
This study finds that the use of distillers dried grain with solubles (DDGS) as feed is greatly influenced by the development of DDGS products that are available in the market. We find that newer-generation DDGS products have a higher optimal inclusion rate, reaching the maximum allowable rate of 20% for swine, and they have a higher displacement rate of 0.23 for soymeal and 0.93 for corn. Although both traditional and newer-generation DDGS products are primarily used as a corn substitute for energy, it will take only a relatively small change in the price or matrix A (or both) for the newer-generation DDGS to primarily substitute for soymeal for the limiting amino acid, lysine. In contrast, traditional DDGS products have a lower optimal inclusion rate of...

Assessing China’s Potential Import Demand for Distillers Dried Grain: Implications for Grain Trade AgEcon
Fabiosa, Jacinto F.; Hansen, James M.; Matthey, Holger; Pan, Suwen; Tuan, Francis C..
A team of U.S. analysts visited China to assess the potential for use of distillers dried grain plus solubles (DDGS) in China’s livestock sector. They examined the economics of the use of DDGS in feeds, the policy issues surrounding the use of the product, and transportation-logistic constraints in the expansion of DDGS imports. The team collected actual and secondary data to conduct a micro-economic analysis of the impact of DDGS on feed cost, solicited official and expert opinions through interviews, and conducted site visits. They found the development of the DDGS import market in China to be very promising. The microeconomic analysis showed a clear economic incentive for feed millers and livestock producers to use DDGS in their feed ration, with a...

Not All DDGS Are Created Equal: Nutrient-Profile-Based Pricing to Incentivize Quality AgEcon
Fabiosa, Jacinto F..
This study finds that distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) is a dominant feed ingredient in hog finishing rations, despite variability in the product’s nutritional content. The optimal inclusion rate has remained at the maximum allowable limit of 20%, suggesting that when a particular DDGS product has low nutrient content, feed compounders simply supplement with corn and soymeal, whatever deficits in nutrients are created as a result. The study examines DDGS products from 40 different ethanol plants and finds that, relative to the DDGS product with the lowest feed ration cost, the optimal feed ration costs of DDGS products from the other 39 ethanol plants are $0.002 to $0.42 more per cwt of feed. The implied price discount from this cost...

Effects of varying levels of distillers dried grains with solubles on growth performance of broiler chicks Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Loar II,RE; Corzo,A.
There is no formal recommendation, regarding dietary concentration, when it comes to feeding distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) to young broilers. This study evaluated the effects of varying levels of DDGS in a diet to young broilers from 0 to 14d of age. Diets ranged from 0 to 32% DDGS concentration, with 8% increments. Increasing inclusion rate of DDGS led to decreased body weight gain (BWG), whereas mortality seemed to be linearly increased. However, there was an increase seen in feed conversion (FCR) in conjunction with the increase in DDGS in the diet. An inclusion level of 8% DDGS or less is recommended for starter diets for broiler chicks.

Nutritional value of Brazilian distillers dried grains with solubles for pigs as determined by different methods R. Bras. Zootec.
Corassa,Anderson; Lautert,Iziz Paula Anhõn da Silva; Pina,Douglas dos Santos; Kiefer,Charles; Ton,Ana Paula Silva; Komiyama,Claudia Marie; Amorim,Alessandro Borges; Teixeira,Alexandre de Oliveira.
ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to determine the digestibility coefficient (DC) of nutrients and the digestible energy (DE), and metabolizable energy (ME) values of distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) produced in Brazil by different methods. Eight barrows with 23.3±4.1 kg were housed in metabolic cages in a randomized block design and fed diets containing 0, 200, 400, and 600 g kg–1 of corn DDGS. We determined the digestibility of dry matter (DM), organic matter (OM), crude protein (CP), ether extract (EE), mineral matter (MM), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), and gross energy (GE) by the total collection (TC) and chromium oxide marker (Cr) methods. Distillers dried grains with solubles provided the respective DM, OM, CP, EE, MM, NDF, and...

Nutritional value of distillers dried grains with solubles from corn and sorghum and xylanase in diets for pigs R. Bras. Zootec.
Corassa,Anderson; Stuani,Jessika Lucia; Ton,Ana Paula Silva; Kiefer,Charles; Sbardella,Maicon; Brito,Claudson Oliveira; Amorim,Alessandro Borges; Gonçalves,Diésica Bianca Coelho.
ABSTRACT Two experiments were conducted to evaluate the digestibility and energy of distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) from corn and sorghum with or without xylanase enzyme in diets for pigs. The values of dry matter (DM), organic matter (OM), crude protein (CP), mineral matter (MM), ether extract (EE), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), gross (GE), digestible (DE), metabolizable energy (ME), and digestibility coefficients (DC) were determined. In the experiment 1, we used eight barrows of 26.15±3.45 kg with repeated measures in three periods of five days of collection. The treatments consisted of a reference diet (RD); RD with 200 g kg−1 corn DDGS or sorghum DDGS; and RD with 400 g kg−1 corn DDGS or sorghum DDGS. Corn DDGS showed higher values of...

Efecto in vitro de dietas para corderos más un suplemento de granos secos de destilería en la fermentación ruminal y emisiones de gases Agrociencia
Cobos-Peralta,Mario A.; Curzaynz-Leyva,Karym R.; Rivas-Martínez,Mayra I.; Santillán-Gómez,Emma A.; Bárcena,José R..
