Effect of free-choice feeding on the performance and ileal digestibility of nutrients in broilers Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Cruz,VC; Pezzato,AC; Pinheiro,DF; Gonçalves,JC; Sartori,JR.
An experiment was conducted to study ileal digestibility of nutrients and to verify the ability of broilers to select feed in order to meet their requirements for protein and energy. The treatments consisted of six diets: R+S: free-choice feeding with rice bran (energy) and soybean meal (protein); C+G: free-choice feeding with corn (energy) and corn gluten meal (protein); R+G: free-choice feeding with rice bran (energy) and corn gluten meal (protein); C+S: free-choice feeding with corn (energy) and soybean meal (protein); R+C+G+S: free-choice feeding with rice bran and corn (energy) and corn gluten meal and soybean meal (protein); and BD: basal diet represented by a complete diet composed of 63% corn and 33% soybean meal. The results indicated that the...

Metabolizable energy and nutrient digestibility of detoxified castor meal and castor cake for poultry R. Bras. Zootec.
Matos Júnior,João Batista; Dias,Adélio Nunes; Bueno,Camila Ferreira Delfim; Rodrigues,Priscila Avelino; Veloso,Álvaro Luís Carvalho; Faria Filho,Daniel Emygdio de.
This experiment aimed to determine the metabolizable energy and the digestibility of detoxified castor meal and castor cake nutrients for broilers. A total of 180 Cobb-500TM broilers from 21 to 32 days of age was randomly distributed in three treatments with six replicates of 10 broilers - 5 males and 5 females. The experimental treatments were a reference-diet and two test-diets composed of 80% of reference-diet and 20% of detoxified castor cake or castor meal. The adaptation period ranged from 21 to 27 days of age and the total excreta collection period ranged from 28 to 32 days of age. The detoxified castor meal presented apparent metabolizable energy of 2,032 kcal/kg of natural matter, apparent metabolizable energy corrected for nitrogen balance of...

Nutritive value of elephant grass silage added with cottonseed cake in diet for sheep Rev. Ciênc. Agron.
Dias,Elyane Cristina Borges; Cândido,Magno José Duarte; Furtado,Rafael Nogueira; Pompeu,Roberto Claúdio Fernandes Franco; Silva,Leane Veras da.
ABSTRACT The objective was to evaluate the intake, nutrient digestibility and nitrogen balance in sheep fed diets containing elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum Schum) silage containing 0; 7; 14 and 21% cottonseed cake. Twenty Morada Nova sheep were used in a completely randomized design with four treatments and five replicates. The diets were isoproteic, isoenergetic and isofibrous. There was no effect of cottonseed cake levels on nutrient intake and digestibility coefficient of ether extract. The digestibility coefficients of dry matter, organic matter, crude protein, total carbohydrates and non-fiber carbohydrates presented a linear reduction with the levels of cottonseed cake varying from, respectively, 537.97 to 421.21; 566.54 to 446.42; 595, 38 to...
