Digitaria species are sugar cane crop weeds in Brazil and are being controlled with herbicides, although there are some reports of control failure, notably to the triazine group. Molecular techniques are recommended to analyze the genetic variability in weeds. RAPD (Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA), PCR-RFLP (Polymerase Chain Reaction – Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism) and, in combination with sequencing, allow the localization of resistance genes, as well as possible mutations related to the onset of resistant individuals in some species. A bioeconomic model was developed for decision-making regarding large crabgrass (Digitaria sanguinalis) control in glyphosate-resistant soybeans in the Rolling Pampas ofArgentina. The model was used to evaluate the economic returns of four different glyphosate-based strategies for weed control. In the absence of herbicide application (T1), the soil seed bank increases to an equilibrium density of 12,079 seeds m-2 in three years. Digitaria cuatrecasasii, nueva especie de Honduras, Panamá, Colombia y Venezuela, se describe e ilustra. Se discute la posición taxonómica de D. cuatrecasasii y se propone su inclusión en la sección Leianthae. Se provee una tabla comparativa con las especies de la sección y observaciones referidas a la especie más relacionada. Digitaria californica var. villosissima, D. corynotricha, D. curvinervis, D. fragilis y D. sacchariflora son citadas por primera vez en Colombia. Se adicionan 10 nuevas citas: Digitaria abyssinica, D. aequiglumis var. aequiglumis, D. lanuginosa, D. nuda y D. venezuelae var. fendleri en Panamá; D. argillacea var. nulliseta y D. fuscescens en Honduras; D. sacchariflora en El Salvador y Guatemala; D. sanguinalis en Costa Rica; y D. similis en El Salvador, Guatemala y Panamá. Seis de estos taxones constituyen nuevas citas en América Central: D. aequiglumis var. aequiglumis, D. argillacea var. nulliseta, D. lanuginosa, D. sacchariflora, D. similis y D. venezuelae var. fendleri.
