| Clinical images are worthwhile in Health Sciences and their analysis and correct interpretation aid the professionals,such as physicians, physiotherapists and occupational therapists, to make decisions and take subsequent therapeutic and/or rehabilitation measures. Other factors, besides the state of the disease, may interfere and affect the bioavailability of the radiopharmaceuticals (radiobiocomplexes) and the quality of the SPECT and PET images. | The aim of this work was to study the effect of antimalarial drugs on the bioavailability of 99mTc-MDP in rats. Mefloquine (MQ) and artemisinin (AM) were administered in two treated groups (T) and sorbitol in control group (C) for 7 days. Then, 99mTc-MDP was injected in all groups and %ATI was calculated. A significant increase of %ATI in MQ group, from C to T, occurred in spleen (0.35±0.10to0.58±0.13), liver (1.69±0.28to3.31±0.07) and blood (0.79±0.17to2.09±0.53). The %ATI increased significantly in AM group:femur (2.76±0.59to5.98±0.70), liver (1.69±0.28to4.59±0.68), lungs (0.29±0.05to6.22±0.86), spleen (0.35±0.10 to0.86±0.15) and blood (0.79±0.17 to4.65 ±0.74). | The evidence that natural or synthetic drugs can affect the biodistribution of radiopharmaceuticals (radiobiocomplexes) in setting of nuclear medicine clinic is already known. We studied the effect of Paclitaxel, an anti-neoplastic agent for the treatment of solid tumors, on the biodistribution of Na99mTcO4 in female rats. Paclitaxel (1mg/mL/week) was administered into animals in single dose during 3 weeks, with interval of 1 week among them. The control group received NaCl 0.9% solutions by the same via. | Forty-nine AIDS patients, most of who were antiretroviral therapy (ARV) naïve, with active tuberculosis, were treated with Rifampin 600mg, Isoniazid 400mg and Pirazinamide 2g daily. They also received ARV, consisting of Efavirenz (600mg/day) plus 2 NRTIs. All patients were prospectively followed for at least 24 months. Baselines were: male/female ratio 2:1, mean age 34.7 ± 9.4 yrs; weight 51 ± 9.0 kg, viral load 5.6 ± 0.6 logs, CD4 cell count 101 ± 128 cells/ mm³. Follow up mean values of data logs of VL and CD4+ cell /mm³ counts were: VL 1.7 and CD4+ 265; VL 1.3 and CD4+ 251; VL 1.4 and CD4+ 326 at 6, 12 and 24 months, respectively. | ABSTRACT The purpose of this work was to evaluate the influence of the clinical profile on lamotrigine (LTG) plasma concentrations from patients with refractory epileptic seizures. In this cross-sectional study, therapeutic monitoring of LTG, and questionnaires with 75 patients with refractory epileptic seizures of a Hospital in Ribeirão Preto-SP-Brazil were performed. The multiple linear regression model was used to verify association between the LTG plasma concentrations and the independent variables.
