RESUMEN: En el presente trabajo se estudia el proceso de adopción de tecnología de distribución y control de agua que las Comunidades de Regantes de la Región de Murcia han llevado a cabo desde el año 1975 hasta 2005. Se analiza el tiempo que transcurre desde que se constituye la Comunidad de Regantes hasta que toma la decisión de adoptar utilizando Análisis de Duración. Se identifican como aceleradores del proceso de adopción la posesión de un pozo de apoyo, el empleo de un sistema tarifario variable en función del consumo, los efectos de las políticas de subvenciones a las obras de modernización y mejora de los regadíos y las sequías. The adoption and possible abandonment of organic farming has yet received little attention in the literature. As time plays an important role in explaining farming decisions, a dynamic econometric framework, namely duration analysis, is used. The probability of entry to and exit of the organic drystock sector is modeled considering a wide range of economic and non‐economic factors. Organic support payments emerge as important driving factor of adoption over time. This paper uses duration analysis to evaluate the ability of interest groups to influence the timing of decisions to add species to the endangered species list by exerting pressure on the Fish and Wildlife Service. Using data from 1990 to 1994, it finds that public opposition and support can substantially slow and hasten (respectively) the progress of candidate species through the parts of the listing process most directly under the agency's control. Since the Service is not an atypical agency, similar patterns of public influence on delay may exist in other areas of bureaucratic decision making as well. However, most of the available studies concentrate on export markets and fail to capture spillover effects that modern supply chains may have on local markets. The impact of food scares on meat consumption has been traditionally investigated by estimating food demand systems using aggregated time series. Only a few have considered micro data but none of them has tried to quantify consumers’ reaction to food scares and the speed of such reactions. In this study we apply duration analysis techniques with the aim of analysing the effect of different explanatory variables on both the risk of reducing beef consumption and the timing of this reduction. Our results suggest that the maximum hazard occurs during the few months after the occurrence of the food crisis and then the reducing consumption hazard tend to diminish.
