La Baie de Seine: Peuplements et especes benthiques en regime perturbe ArchiMer
Cabioch, L; Retiere, C.
The waters of the Seine River are polluted by urban, industrial and agricultural effluents. In addition direct industrial wastes inputs are emptied into the estuary. Within the limits of the Seine Bay program it was not possible to research pollution impacts on every estuarine ecosystem link; so only benthos have been studied. To take time response of organisms into account, the authors have defined indicators or quantitative evaluation of parameters, reflecting physiological state. They have studied population fluctuations caused by natural or man induced effects.

Dinoflagelles toxiques sur les cotes francaises pendant l'ete 1983. Perturbations des ecosystemes en baie de Vilaine. Analyse des successions phytoplanctoniques precedant l'apparition d'un dinoflagelle toxique. ArchiMer
Pierre, Marie-josé; Lassus, Patrick.
The incidence of phytoplankton communities sequences on toxic dinoflagellate Dinophysis acuminata occurrence was studied in the course of summer 1983, in Vilaine Bay. Despite difficulties in finding obvious relationship between occurrences of that species in the fields and preceding species it nevertheless may be emphasized: 1) a real perturbation of ecosystems is noticeable (rank-frequency diagrams); 2) the amount of sampling stations might be reduced in so far as representative stations are maintained.

Premieres donnees sur la dynamique du peuplement macrobenthique des sables fins envases a Abra alba de la Baie de Seine orientale ArchiMer
Gentil, F; Irlinger, J; Elkaim, B; Proniewski, F.
The dynamics of macrobenthos populations living in muddy fine sands near Seine estuary have been studied, to obtain quantitative data for the knowledge of these populations and the impact of macrotidal environment disturbances.

Significations ecologiques de la variabilite des polychetes dans le golfe de Tunis OceanDocs
Zaabi, S.; Afli, A..
The coastal areas, like the gulf of Tunis, are more and more affected by the increasing anthropic activities and nutriment inputs coming from the catchments area. The polychaeta populations show different reactions in front of such conditions and constitute an effective biological tool to detect the first signs of disturbance. In total, nine stations in the north-east of the gulf, were sampled by the Van Veen grab. In this study, the model of ecological groups and biotic index was used. It appears that the general state in the studied area is overall satisfactory, except for some ones where a situation of beginning of imbalance or of transition, seems taking place.

Short-term stability of estuarine benthic assemblages: are storms pattern-defining events? Rev. Bras. Zool.
Negrello Filho,Orlei A.; Lana,Paulo C..
Storms, associated with strong winds and heavy rains, are often the most severe physical disturbances in shallow coastal areas causing instability to sedimentary environments. We hypothesized herein that if storms influence short-term assemblage structure of macrofauna, then assemblages should change after storms, while remaining relatively stable over calm weather conditions. The study was conducted at the subtropical Paranaguá Bay, in southern Brazil. We selected four 700 m² sites, at the estuarine outlet, to monitor changes in number of species, number of individuals and Shannon diversity. Sampling was arranged considering the weather forecast so that both before and after conditions could be recorded. Data of each site was tested separately to access...
