Elastin Accumulation in Actinic Cheilitis with Different Degrees of Epithelial Dysplasia International Journal of Morphology

The extracellular matrix (ECM) plays an important role in the regulation of biological events such as the development of cell migration, proliferation and differentiation. Chronic sun exposure causes changes present in the ECM of actinic cheilitis (AC), a premalignant lesion of the lower lip which helps to understand the carcinogenesis of the lip. This study aimed to investigate elastin, the main component of solar elastosis alternating current in an attempt to establish the relationship between this protein and ECM in epithelial dysplasia. Effect of porcine arterial elastin peptide to the moisture content of mice skin OAK

ブタ大動脈よりエラスチンの酵素加水分解ペプチド(エラスチンペプチド)を調製し,その摂取が皮膚にもたらす影響について検討した.生後7週の雄ヘアレスマウスにエラスチンペプチドなどの試料を経口投与し,63日間の飼育を行った.皮膚老化モデルとして光老化モデルを採用し,週3回の頻度で紫外線を照射した.照射52日目および55日目にエラスチンペプチドとコラーゲンペプチドを混合投与した群およびコラーゲンペプチド投与群において,皮膚水分量が照射対照群に比べて有意に上昇し,エラスチンペプチドの単独投与群において上昇傾向が認められた.エラスチンペプチドやコラーゲンペプチドの単独投与に比べ,皮膚中の存在比やそれに近い比での混合投与による相乗効果が得られ,光老化に対する皮膚症状の改善が認められた.つまり,エラスチンペプチドがコラーゲンペプチドの摂取による皮膚水分量の上昇効果を増強することが示唆された.

A comparative study of aging of the elastic fiber system of the diaphragm and the rectus abdominis muscles in rats BJMBR

In the present study the age-related changes of the striated muscle elastic fiber system were investigated in the diaphragm and rectus abdominis muscles of 1-, 4-, 8- and 18-month-old rats. The activation patterns of these muscles differ in that the diaphragm is regularly mobilized tens of times every minute during the entire life of the animal whereas the rectus abdominis, although mobilized in respiration, is much less and more irregularly activated. The elastic fibers were stained by the Verhoeff technique for mature elastic fibers. Weigert stain was used to stain mature and elaunin elastic fibers, and Weigert-oxone to stain mature, elaunin and oxytalan elastic fibers. Elastin increases biofilm and extracellular matrix production of Aspergillus fumigatus BJM

Abstract Aspergillus fumigatus is an opportunistic saprobe fungus that accounts for 90% of cases of pulmonary aspergillosis in immunosuppressed patients and is known for its angiotropism. When it reaches the respiratory tract, A. fumigatus interacts with structural components and blood vessels of the lungs, such as elastin. To understand the effect of this structural component, we examined the effect of elastin on the production and development of the biofilm of A. fumigatus. ABSTRACT The human skin aging process is a complex mechanism that can be induced both by intrinsic and extrinsic factors. Observations include a decrease in the biosynthetic and proliferative capacity of cells, increased expression of matrix metalloproteinases, reduction in collagen type I expression, and the progressive disappearance of elastic tissue in the papillary dermis.
