Contributions of weather variables for specific adaptation of rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis Muell.- Arg) clones Genet. Mol. Biol.
Priyadarshan,P.M..
The specific adaptation of 15 rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis) clones was assessed by analyzing yield during a normal year (1997-98) and a year (1998-99) in which the yield was exceptional. Differences in yield in response to changes in weather conditions over the years were evident with clones RRII 203, RRIM 703, PB 5/51 and PB 235 which all exhibited a negative trend with increasing wind velocity during 1997-98, these clones also exhibited a negative correlation with minimum temperature during 1998-99. The prominent yield differences across the years made selection based on both yield and stability inevitable through computing weather variables and environmental index as covariant. To determine the contribution of variable(s) to genotype-environment (GE)...

Environmental impact of the Brazilian Agrarian Reform process from 1985 to 2001 Scientia Agricola
van de Steeg,Jeannette Antoinette; Sparovek,Gerd; Ranieri,Simone Beatriz Lima; Maule,Rodrigo Fernando; Cooper,Miguel; Dourado Neto,Durval; Alves,Marcelo Corrêa.
During the past 20 years, most settlements of the Brazilian Agrarian Reform (AR) have been established in or near better-preserved natural ecosystems, where environmental impact is likely to be negative and contribute to natural resources degradation. The objective of this work is providing a first, comprehensive insight of the impacts related to the environmental quality of these settlements, based on the primary survey of 4,340 AR settlements installed between 1985 and 2001. An index was calculated to integrate different aspects of environmental impacts in one single number. The index showed significant regional variation, with lower values (low environmental quality) for the North and Northeast of Brazil, intermediate values for the Central-west and...

Prediction of Hevea progeny performance in the presence of genotype-environment interaction BABT
Gonçalves,Paulo de Souza; Moraes,Mário Luiz Teixeira de; Silva,Marcelo de Almeida; Gouvêa,Lígia Regina Lima; Aguiar,Adriano Tosoni da Eira; Costa,Reginaldo Brito da.
Twenty two open-pollinated Hevea progenies from different parental clones of the Asian origin were tested at five sites in the Northwestern São Paulo State Brazil to investigate the progeny girth growth, rubber yield, bark thickness and plant height. Except for the rubber yield, the analysis of variance indicated highly significant (p<0.01) genotype x environment interaction and heterogeneity of regressions among the progenies. However, the regression stability analysis identified only a few interacting progenies which had regression coefficients significantly different from the expected value of one. The linear regressions of the progeny mean performance at each test on an environmental index (mean of all the progenies in each test) showed the general...
