Morphodynamique d’une plage sableuse microtidale à barres : côte nord de Mahdia (Tunisie orientale) OceanDocs

Les plages de la côte nord de Mahdia sont structurées par deux types de barres sableuses : festonnée aux extrémités nord et sud du prisme sableux de la baie, et rectiligne vers le centre. Cette thèse a pour objectif de décrire la morphologie de ces formes sédimentaires modelées par les processus hydrodynamiques. La forme tridimensionnelle des barres sous-marines a pu être décrite à partir des mesures bathymétriques. L’application d’un modèle numérique de propagation des houles (SMC) montre la résultante du couplage entre l’hydrodynamique littorale en présence de vagues déferlantes et la dynamique sédimentaire des courants de fonds afin d’analyser la morphodynamique des bancs de sable. The results of the application of the formula of Kawamura (1951) to in situ meteorological data in order to forecast the sand transport rate due to wind action are described in this paper. A new episode of dune formation started in the 1980's in these beaches, and more recently they have been affected by aeolian erosion since the beginning of the destruction of foredune vegetation due to the increase in tourist activities in the area. Shear velocity (U*t) values on the surface were determined starting from wind speed vertical profiles. Critical shear velocity values to start the sand movement were also determined, taking into account the grain size variations of the beach material along the coast.
