A new Arachnidium species, Arachnidium lacourti spec. nov. (Bryozoa: Ctenostomona), from the coast of The Netherlands Naturalis
Hondt, J.-L. d'; Faasse, M.A..
A new species of the genus Arachnidium is described from The Netherlands. The detached distal part of the zooids and their bottle shape are diagnostic of the species. It is recorded from oligo-mesohaline waterways with intensive navigation and it is assumed to have been introduced by shipping.

This paper registers 16 species of aquatic molluscs, especially the limnic and estuarine species Heleobia davisi Silva & Thomé, 1985, Heleobia australis australis (Orbigny, 1835) and Erodona mactroides Bosc, 1802, from D'Una river and Mirim, Imaruí and Santo Antônio lagoons and Laguna Beach (Santa Catarina, Brazil). This parameter was very important for the paleoecological analysis conduced for that area, where oscillation of the sea level occurred during the Holocen Period. Heleobia davisi is registered for the first time to the Santa Catarina.

Trophic dynamics (Dissolved Inorganic Nitrogen-DIN and Dissolved Inorganic Phosphorus-DIP) in tropical urban estuarine systems during periods of high and low river discharge rates Anais da ABC (AABC)
NORIEGA,CARLOS; ARAUJO,MOACYR; FLORES-MONTES,MANUEL; ARAUJO,JULIA.
Abstract: This paper focused on the use of the biogeochemical LOICZ (Land Ocean Interactions in the Coastal Zone) to investigate the dynamics of DIN and DIP nutrients among three highly urbanized tropical estuaries (Barra das Jangadas (BJ), Recife (RE) and Timbó (TB)), located in the northeastern region of Brazil. The input data were obtained through in situ measurements (2007) and governmental agency databases (2001-2007). The balances of the non-conservative elements showed that the RE and TB systems alternated between sources and sinks during the observation periods (0.2-0.8 mmoles DIP m-2 d-1 and 0.1-10 mmoles DIN m-2 d-1). The metabolism rates in the systems indicated that the BJ system was autotrophic during the two observation periods (10-26 mmoles...

Inventory of benthic marine and estuarine algae and Cyanobacteria for Tabasco, México Biota Neotropica
Mendoza-González,Angela Catalina; Mateo-Cid,Luz Elena; García-López,Deisy Yazmin.
Abstract Studies of benthic marine and estuarine algae as well as Cyanobacteria are in their early stages in the littoral of the state of Tabasco. Sixty seven taxa of seaweeds are currently known from Tabasco. The inventory of these organisms was made based on samples obtained in six localities, three of them in marine and three in estuarine environments. We found 147 species and subspecific taxa with Rhodophyta having the greatest number with 84, followed by Chlorophyta 44, and finally Phaeophyceae 19. In addition, the 26 species of Cyanobacteria collected are recorded for the first time for the coast of Tabasco since there are no previous reports. The presence of 115 species of benthic marine and estuarine algae is reported for the first time for...
