COMPARISON OF DRY DEPOSITION AND CANOPY EXCHANGE OF BASE CATIONS IN TEMPERATE HARDWOOD FORESTS IN FLANDERS AND CHILE Gayana Botánica
Staelens,Jeroen; Schrijver,An De; Oyarzún,Carlos; Lust,Noël.
Bulk precipitation, throughfall and stemflow of base cations Na+, K+, Mg2+ and Ca2+ were measured in two deciduous beech forests, located in regions with different air pollution characteristics and strongly differing in soil acidity and soil base saturation. The contribution of dry deposition and canopy leaching to net throughfall flux was estimated using Na+ as a tracer ion. The input of base cations via bulk precipitation was not significantly different between Nothofagus obliqua (Mirb.) Bl. in southern Chile and Fagus sylvatica L. in Flanders. However, net throughfall input of Ca2+ and Mg2+ to the forest floor was significantly higher in Chile than in Flanders. Potassium fluxes were similar in both studied stands. Dry deposition of Ca2+ was higher in...

Brief introduction of 10 species of Stigmella (Lepidoptera , Nepticulidae) on Fagaceae in China Naturalis
Liu, You-qiao; Nieukerken, E.J. van.
Nepticulidae , a family of very small Microlepidoptera with mostly leafmining larvae, was hitherto almost unknown from the territories of the People' s Republic of China. In this paper we'll treat 10 species of the genus Stigmella reared from hosts belonging to Fagaceae (oaks).

Western Palaearctic Ectoedemia (Zimmermannia) Hering and Ectoedemia Busck s. str. (Lepidoptera: Nepticulidae): five new species and new data on distribution, hostplants and recognition Naturalis
Nieukerken, E.J. van; Laštůvka, A.; Laštůvka, Z..
The nine western Palaearctic species of the subgenus Zimmermannia Hering, 1940 and 48 species in the subgenus Ectoedemia Busck, 1907 of the genus Ectoedemia are reviewed. One species in the subgenus Zimmermannia and four species in the subgenus Ectoedemia are described as new: Ectoedemia (Zimmermannia) vivesi A. Laštůvka, Z. Laštůvka & Van Nieukerken sp. n. from southern Spain and Cyprus with unknown host plant, Ectoedemia (E.) hendrikseni A. Laštůvka, Z. Laštůvka & Van Nieukerken sp. n. from southern France on Quercus suber, E. (E.) heckfordi Van Nieukerken, A. Laštůvka & Z. Laštůvka sp. n. from southern England on Quercus petraea and Q. robur, E. (E.) phaeolepis Van Nieukerken, A. Laštůvka & Z. Laštůvka sp. n. from Spain and Portugal...

Nepticulidae (Lepidoptera) in China, 1. Introduction and Stigmella Schrank feeding on Fagaceae Naturalis
Nieukerken, E.J. van; Liu, Y..
The Stigmella species feeding on Fagaceae collected in China in 1984 are described and all known East Asian species are reviewed. In total 13 species are recognized: 12 are tentatively grouped in the ruficapitella-group and one in the caesurifasciella-group. The ruficapitella-group includes here also the castanopsiella-group and the suberivora-group. Stigmella kao, S. circumargentea, S. vandrieli and S. lithocarpella are described as new species from Yunnan and S. fumida Kemperman & Wilkinson is also reported from Yunnan. From Heilongjiang four species are reported: S. omelkoi Puplesis, S. fervida Puplesis (on basis of mines only), S. dentatae Puplesis and S. aladina Puplesis. Three new synonyms are proposed: S. quercifaga Kemperman & Wilkinson...
