En la Mixteca Poblana, predominan suelos calcáreos que por su pH alcalino impiden que las plantas puedan absorber los nutrimentos como hierro y zinc, ocasionando la clorosis férrica, afectando los cultivos de esta región, tales como: caña de azúcar, sorgo, maíz, frijol e incluso los árboles frutales, repercutiendo en el desarrollo, rendimiento y en casos severos la muerte de la planta. En esta región está ubicado el ingenio azucarero de Atencingo que genera anualmente 45 mil toneladas de desechos orgánicos (cachaza). El Ingenio Pujiltic del municipio de Venustiano Carranza, Chiapas, enfrenta problemas ambientales ocasionados por la producción de residuos: vinaza y cachaza. La vinaza es vertida en los canales de riego de las zonas aledañas al Ingenio sin ningún control, mientras que la cachaza es acumulada en los caminos, donde las altas temperaturas de fermentación provocan su quema. Resultados experimentales indican que la composición química de estos subproductos les permite ser aprovechados como fuente de nitrógeno, fósforo y potasio en el cultivo de caña de azúcar. En la zona de abasto del ingenio La Gloria, en Veracruz, se desconocen la percepción y actitud de los productores de caña respecto al uso de composta de cachaza y vinaza. Por tanto, el objetivo de este trabajo fue determinar la percepción y actitud del productor cañero respecto al uso de composta de cachaza y vinaza en suelos cultivados con caña de azúcar. Este estudio, se realizó en la zona de abasto del ingenio La Gloria, Veracruz. Aiming to evaluate the use of sugarcane industry waste such as byproducts from vinasse concentration process, it was assessed the organomineral fertilizer BIOFOM (concentrated vinasse, filter cake, boiler ash, soot from chimneys and supplemented with mineral fertilizers). The study included characterization and agronomic potential analysis of a test plant (corn), by noting the differences between mineral fertilizers and BIOFOM fertilization until 45 days after sowing. The technology traditionally used to produce BIOFOM was based on vinasse evaporation with high heat transfer coefficients. Soil organic matter depletion caused by agricultural management systems have been identified as a critical problem in most tropical soils. The application of organic residues from agro-industrial activities can ameliorate this problem by increasing soil organic matter quality and quantity. Humic substances play an important role in soil conservation but the dynamics of their transformations is still poorly understood. This study evaluated the effect of compost application to two contrasting tropical soils (Inceptisol and Oxisol) for two years. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito da aplicação de diferentes concentrações de um análogo de brassinosteróide (BIOBRAS – 16) e de dois substratos sobre o crescimento de mudas micropropagadas do abacaxizeiro ‘Imperial’. O experimento foi conduzido em DBC, em esquema fatorial 2 x 5 x 4, no qual foram avaliadas cinco concentrações do BIOBRAS - 16 (0; 0,1; 0,3; 0,5 e 1 mg L-1), dois tipos de substratos e quatro épocas de amostragem (60, 90, 120 e 150 dias após transplantio).
