Simultaneous determination of ethinyl estradiol and drospirenone in oral contraceptive by high performance liquid chromatography BJPS
Silva,Viviane Benevenuti; Galdos,Angel Arturo Gaona; Mothe,Cintia Maria Alves; Pallastrelli,Michele Bacchi; Prado,Maria Segunda Aurora; Singh,Anil Kumar; Kedor-Hackmann,Erika Rosa Maria; Santoro,Maria Inês Rocha Miritello.
A simple, rapid, economical and reliable high performance liquid chromatographic method has been developed and successfully applied in simultaneous determination of ethinyl estradiol and drospirenone in coated tablets. The HPLC method was performed on a LiChroCART® 100RP column (125x4 mm i.d., 5 µm) with acetonitrile:water 50:50 (v/v) as mobile phase, pumped at a flow rate of 1.0 mL.min-1. The fluorescence detection for ethinyl estradiol was made at λex= 280 nm and λem= 310 nm and a UV detection for drospirenone was made at 200 nm. The elution time for ethinyl estradiol and drospirenone were 4.0 and 5.7 min, respectively. The method was validated in accordance to USP 34 guidelines. The proposed HPLC method presented advantages over reported methods and is...

Ion-pairing liquid chromatographic method determination of ketoconazole and stress degradation in pharmaceutical formulations with fluorescence detection BJPS
Thongchai,Wisanu.
Ion-pairing liquid chromatographic method was validated for determination of ketoconazole in shampoo and cream samples as per ICH guidelines. The chromatographic conditions were carried out in the isocratic mode using a mixture of methanol and 8 mM sodium dodecyl sulfate (pH 5.5) in a ratio of 45:55 v/v %, as mobile phase. The flow rate was set at 1.0 mL min-1. Chromolith RP-18e (100×4.6 mm) was used as the analytical column with a fluorescence detection at an excitation wavelength of 260 nm and an emission wavelength of 375 nm. The average percentage recovery of shampoo A, shampoo B, shampoo C, cream A and cream B were 99.88, 97.06, 99.58, 96.77 and 97.26, respectively. The limit of detection was 0.12 mg L-1. The drug decomposition under acid degradation,...

Incidence of aflatoxin M1 contamination in milk, white cheese, kashar and butter from Sakarya, Turkey Ciênc. Tecnol. Aliment.
ÖZTÜRK YILMAZ,Suzan; ALTINCI,Alev.
Abstract The purpose of this research is to determine the incidence and occurrence of aflatoxin M1 (AFM1) in 104 samples of milk, white cheese, kashar and butter in Sakarya, Turkey. Followed by immunoaffinity column (IAC) purification, high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)-fluorescence detection method was implemented to analyze the samples. Results show that 61.5% of milk, 40% of white cheese, 65.4% of kashar and 29.6% of butter contains AFM1. In 53 of samples (50.96%) are not determined AFM1. The amount of AFM1 in 51 samples (49.04%) ranges from 2.4 to 47.8 ng/L/kg. AFM1 levels do not exceed the limit set by Turkish regulations (50 ng/L/kg). However, the incidence of AFM1 contamination is a potential health risk for customers, particularly for...

Mercury transformations and exchanges in a high turbidity estuary: The role of organic matter and amorphous oxyhydroxides ArchiMer
Laurier, Fabien; Cossa, Daniel; Gonzalez, Jean-louis; Breviere, Emily; Sarazin, G.
The speciation and partition of mercury in a macrotidal estuary (Seine estuary, France) was studied in order to explore the role of the high turbidity zone (HTZ) in mercury transfer to the adjacent coastal waters. Water and particles were analyzed to determine the concentrations of various mercury species, including monomethylmercury and the inorganic fraction. The exchangeable particulate mercury, which varies with salinity, and the mercury fraction associated with the amorphous oxyhydroxides were evaluated. The distribution of dissolved mercury species during early mixing suggests non-conservative behavior of organically bound mercury at the head of the estuary. Mercury in the particles covaried positively with suspended particulate matter concentrations...
