Atributos do solo e qualidade de frutos nos sistemas convencional e orgânico de produção de maçãs no Sul do Brasil1 Rev. Ciênc. Agron.

Design, development and performance of solar dryer for pineapple (Ananas comosus (L.) Merr.), mamey (Mammea americana L.) and banana (Musaparadisiaca L.) fruit drying Acta Agron. (Palmira)
Macías-Ganchozo,Edgar Ruperto; Bello-Moreira,Italo Pedro; Trueba-Macías,Sabrina Liz; Anchundia-Muentes,Xavier Enrique; Anchundia-Muentes,Manuel Eduardo; Bravo-Moreira,Celio Danilo.
Abstract The aim of the present research was to know the shelf life of dehydrated tropical fruits based on an indirect type solar dryer, which was designed and developed under the conditions of Calceta, Bolívar canton of Manabí province, Ecuador. Due to the banana fruit physical and chemical characteristics exhibited during the process of dehydration by radiation, satisfactory results were obtained, superior to those obtained in fruits of mamey and pineapple. For example, moisture in banana with 80.22% dropped to 10.35%; in relation to protein ratio, which had achieved an increasing from 1.27% in its fresh state to 2.18% and in fiber contents from 0.88% in its fresh state to 2.41%. The microbiological analyzes determined the shelf life of the estimated...

Microwave extraction of champa (Campomanesia lineatifolia Ruiz & Pav.) fruit: alternative to obtain natural antioxidants Acta Agron. (Palmira)
Otalvaro-Álvarez,Ángela María; Pabón-Baquero,Ludy Cristina; Rendón-Fernández,Margarita Rosa; Chaparro-González,María Patricia.
Abstract Champa (Campomanesia lineatifolia Ruiz & Pav.) is a fruit tree that belongs to Myrtaceae family and is native from the Amazon. Champa fruit has special organoleptic characteristics like its flavor and is an important source of phenolic compounds useful in food industry. Currently, the postharvest process of champa fruit needs to be improved due to fruit losses, which had achieved a 97%. In this sense, the aim of this research was to evaluate microwave extraction to obtain extracts enriched in phenolic compounds from champa fruit. The evaluated variables were as follows: microwave power (100-200W), extraction time (1-2min) and solvent (water, ethanol-water 70:30 and ethanol-water 96:4), respectively. Results showed that the best condition to...

Effect of passive evaporative cooler on physio -chemical properties of hot water treated Solanum melongena L. CIGR Journal
Islam, M. P.; Morimoto, T.; Hatou, K..
Abstract: This study was conducted to investigate the effect of passive evaporative cooler on storage behavior - that is visual appearance, physiological loss in weight (PLW), color development, firmness, total soluble solids (TSS) and pH level of hot water treated eggplant fruit (Solanum melongena L.).  Fresh harvested fruits were treated with hot water at 45°C for 1 h.  The highest percentage of PLW (2.39%) was the fruit stored at ambient temperature of 25°C for nine days whereas the lowest percentage of weight loss (2.27%) was the fruit stored inside the passive evaporative cooler.  In all cases, the decreasing rate of lightness (L* value) and increasing rate of greenness (a* value) and yellowness (b* value) of the hot water treated fruits were almost...
