ABSTRACT Although soybean production has been increasing in the state of Rondônia in the last decade, soybean planted area has been estimated indirectly using secondary datasets, which has limited understanding of its spatiotemporal distribution patterns. This study aimed to map and analyze spatial patterns of soybean expansion in Rondônia. We developed a classification technique based on Spectral Mixture Analysis (SMA) derived from Landsat imagery and Decision Tree Classification to detect and map soybean plantations in 2000, 2005, 2010, and 2014. The soybean classification map showed 93% global accuracy, 23% omission and 0% of commission errors for soybean crop fields. Neste trabalho, com base em Geoprocessamento e pesquisas de campo, o objetivo é identificar áreas susceptíveis à erosão na cabeceira da bacia do rio Atibaia, ou seja, as bacias dos rios Cachoeira e Atibainha a montante das barragens do Sistema Cantareira. Em relação ao relevo, além das características de declive, as áreas saturadas de água também interferem no escoamento superficial das vertentes, sendo consideradas, portanto, áreas susceptíveis à erosão. The Permanent Preservation Areas (PPAs) are considered essential for the maintenance of local biodiversity, so that your protection is regulated by the Brazilian legislation. This work had the objective of delimiting permanent preservation areas according to determinations of the current Brazilian environmental legislation, and identify the occurrence of conflict between the land use and legislation in Lavras county, MG, by combination of technologies of remote sensing and geographic information systems. The present study aimed to use Geoprocessing techniques applied to basin management. The study area was the Guariroba microbasin in Campo Grande city - MS. Using the Digital Terrain Model, from EMBRAPA website, topographical data were extracted in Arcgis environment, a TIN grade was generated and from its, a hypsometric map and a three-dimensional declivity map. The land use/cover was also mapped, using a CBERS image and the MAXVER algorithm in ERDAS environment. The Guariroba basin presents low levels of declivity, with fragments of native vegetation and high degree of degradation, distributed in 24 % of the total of the area of the basin. |

ABSTRACT This study demonstrates using remote sensing, geographic information systems and multivariate statistics to study water quality in an agricultural watershed. The monitoring of water quality in the watershed of Lontras's river in the southwestern region of the State of Paraná had been done in 2012 and 2013 with a multi-parameter probe in ten sites that were defined upstream and downstream watershed, during four different seasons.
