SPATIAL VARIABILITY MAPPING OF SUGARCANE QUALITATIVE ATTRIBUTES REA
Ferraz,Marcos N.; Corrêdo,Lucas de P.; Wei,Marcelo C. Fu; Molin,José P..
ABSTRACT Spatial variability evaluation of qualitative attributes can be used as an excellent strategy to design forms of intervention that result in better crop profitability for some agricultural crops, for example, sugarcane. Based on the assumption that qualitative attributes of sugarcane present spatial variability and their distributions along the stems are uniform in different varieties, this study aimed to evaluate the distributions of the qualitative parameters of different sugarcane varieties and the spatial variability of these attributes in a commercial field. Samples of nine varieties were collected for laboratory quality analysis, and the Brix parameter was analyzed by a digital refractometer. The analysis of variance, the Tukey test, and...

Weed mapping using a machine vision system Planta Daninha
Silva Junior,M.C.; Pinto,F.A.C.; Queiroz,D.M.; Gómez-Gil,J.; Navas-Gracia,L.M.
Weed mapping is a useful tool for site-specific herbicide applications. The objectives of this study were (1) to determine the percentage of land area covered by weeds in no-till and conventionally tilled fields of common bean using digital image processing and geostatistics, and (2) to compare two types of cameras. Two digital cameras (color and infrared) and a differential GPS were affixed to a center pivot structure for image acquisition. Sample field images were acquired in a regular grid pattern, and the images were processed to estimate the percentage of weed cover. After calculating the georeferenced weed percentage values, maps were constructed using geostatistical techniques. Based on the results, color images are recommended for mapping the...

Spatial-temporal analysis of water requirements of coffee crop in Minas Gerais State, Brazil AGRIAMBI
Lemos Filho,Luis C. de A.; Mello,Carlos R. de; Faria,Manoel A. de; Carvalho,Luiz G. de.
Scientific investigations about crop water requirements are of fundamental importance to the irrigation process. The main objective of this paper is to analyze and to map water requirements of coffee crop in Minas Gerais State, Brazil. Potential evapotranspiration values (ET0) were estimated by the Penman-Monteith-FAO method, using daily data sets available for 42 National Meteorology Institute (INMET) stations for a period of 17 years. The crop coefficient values (kc) considered were extracted from literature. The results were analyzed by means of geostatistical tools. The theoretical semi-variograms were fitted by the Maximum Likelihood method, considering spherical, exponential and Gaussian models. The maps were created using the ordinary kriging...

Spatial variability of soil physical-hydric attributes under bovine trampling in agreste of Pernambuco State, Brazil Agronomy
Batista, Pedro Henrique Dias; Almeida, Gledson Luiz Pontes de; Pandorfi, Héliton; Tavares, Uilka Elisa; Melo, Airon Aparecido Silva de; Guiselini, Cristiane.
Soils under pastures suffer physical modifications, in greater or lesser intensity, via the action of animal trampling. Thus, the aim was to evaluate the spatial dependence of soil physical attributes under bovine trampling. The trial was performed at Roçadinho Farm, Agreste of Pernambuco, Brazil, in a 40 x 40 m paddock that was managed with continuous stocking by bovines and 12 AU ha-1 stocking rate. Soil samples were collected before and after grazing using a 6 x 6 m grid, totaling 36 sampling points. At each point, the bulk density, total porosity, moisture, soil penetration resistance at 0.00 - 0.10, 0.10 - 0.20, and 0.20 - 0.30 m depth were estimated, as was the hydraulic conductivity on the saturated soil surface. Descriptive statistics and...

Spatial distribution of head smut (Sporisorium reilianum) of corn in Mexico Ciencia e Investigación Agraria
Sánchez-Pale,Jesús Ricardo; Ramírez-Dávila,José Francisco; González-Huerta,Andrés; de León,Carlos.
Knowledge about the spatial distribution of agricultural diseases is important for the elaboration of integrated pest management programs. Such knowledge allows the exact and adept development of sampling methods, control methods and risk valuation. Despite its importance, there have been few studies of the spatial distribution of head smut of corn in Mexico. This study aimed to determine the spatial distribution of this disease during the year 2007 in the State of México and to establish its spatial behavior with geostatistical techniques. Five points per plot were chosen for sampling. For each sampling point, 100 plants in a single row were counted, and the plants that presented symptoms of the disease were recorded. The geostatistical analysis used this...

Spatial dependence and experimental precision in snap bean ( Phaseolus vulgaris L.) trials related to the number of plants and harvests Ciência e Agrotecnologia
Lúcio,Alessandro Dal'Col; Benz,Vilson; Storck,Lindolfo; Cargnelutti Filho,Alberto.
ABSTRACT The productive variability in horticultural crops affects the planning and quality of the experiments, leading to wrong conclusions. The objectives of this study were to verify the spatial dependence of the fresh biomass of snap beans and to dimension the number of plants and harvests that are necessary to improve experimental accuracy in trials. The data of the fresh biomass of snap beans from uniformity trials carried out in a greenhouse and in the field with semivariograms were created with data transformed into indicators. Thus, they were combined on scenarios of plot size and harvest grouping, and they were adjusted to the spherical, exponential and Gaussian models. A response surface was also applied, with the variation coefficient as a...
