Analyse de l’activité de pêche aux filets maillants dérivants de moins de 2,5 km en Méditerranée et caractéristiques techniques des engins ArchiMer
Sacchi, Jacques; Lespagnol, Patrick.

What are the main local drivers determining richness and fishery yields in tropical coastal fish assemblages? Rev. Bras. Zool.
Souza,Cynthia D.; Batista,Vandick S.; Fabré,Nidia N..
ABSTRACT Seasonal ecological effects caused by temperature and photoperiod are typically considered minimal in the tropics. Nevertheless, annual climate cycles may still influence the distribution and abundance of tropical species. Here, we investigate whether seasonal patterns of precipitation and wind speed influence the structure of coastal fish assemblages and fishing yields in northeast Brazil. Research trips were conducted during the rainy and dry seasons using commercial boats and gear to sample the fish community. Diversity was analyzed using abundance Whittaker curves, diversity profiles and the Shannon index. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) was used to analyze associations between the abundance of species and various environmental variables...

Management of gillnet fisheries in the south coast of the state of São Paulo, Brazil Anais da ABC (AABC)
MENDONÇA,JOCEMAR T.; PEREIRA,ALINEIDE L.C..
Gillnetting is one of the most practiced fishing methods adopted in the South of Brazil and has been increasingly expanding over the last years. This paper presents the characterization of the activity and discusses its management, in accordance to results from the discussions on the development of regulations on net fisheries in the South Coast Marine Protected Area (APAMLS) in the state of São Paulo. Gillnet fleets are formed by small-scale boats, with low autonomy, and lower fishing capacity, when compared to boats from other ports in the South and Southeast. However, the number of fishing units is high, reaching 1,709 units operating in the South coast of São Paulo in 2010. This kind of fleet uses several types of gillnets, and the activity may be...

Evaluation of the selectivity of gillnets and handlines for the capture of the blue runner (Caranx crysos) in areas of marine influence of the Tayrona National Natural Par Boletín de Investigaciones
Altamar,Jairo; Wong-Lubo,Juan; de la Hoz-M.,Javier; Martinez-Dallos,Iván.
ABSTRACT A greater knowledge of the selectivity of fishing gear allows determining the capacity to select the sizes and shapes of the species caught, in addition to providing useful information for their conservation and use. This study determined the selectivity parameters of gillnets (7.0, 7.6 and 10.2 cm of mesh size) and J hooks (n.° 7, 9 and 10), used in the artisanal catches of the blue runner (Caranx crysos), in different fishing sites in the Santa Marta region. The SELECT method was used to determine the selectivity parameters, while the Kurskall-Wallis test was used to evaluate differences in the catch per unit of effort (CPUE) between the mesh sizes and the evaluated hook gauges. The results demonstrate that the log-normal model better describes...
