This technical report gives the characteristics of the estuarine professional fishing located in the lower course and at the mouth of Adour river during the fishing season 2000. The fishery statistics for all the migratory amphihaline species (excepted glass-eel) are recorded according to the calendar year. For the glass-eel landings, the statistics given are relative to the fishing season (November, 1, 1999-March, 31,2000). The 2000 fishing season is characterized by a medium level of landings around 50 metric tonnes, but a high turnover, the highest of the 1985-2000 series: 1.47 Meuros. An evaluation of the state of the main exploited species is given: Atlantic Salmon, Sea Trout, Allis Shad, Sea Lamprey and Eel (glass-eel and yellow eel). The catch... |

Along biometric characteristics, glass eel otoliths were collected during three migration seasons, in the Adour estuary, during the new moon of January. Microstructure reading and measurements of various growth zones bring information on glass eel larval life during their oceanic migration and the transition phase in estuary. The results show significant inter-annual variations of glass eels otolithometric characteristics from the point of view of their typology as of the various growth zones measured during transoceanic migration. The differences observed between the years on the typology level could be related to very fluctuating environmental conditions during recruitment. The differences in measurements carried out on the registered otolith zones would... |
