Hungary is one of the countries best suited for agriculture in Europe and throughout the world. Over the last decades, however, the emphasis on putting such natural endowments to the benefit of the nation and of rural communities has dwindled. Most of the opportunities lost concern vegetable and fruit growing, as well as animal husbandry. This also means that these are the fields where we have the greatest reserves. No country may reach the level of prosperity to which it destined without using its natural and human resources in a sustainable manner.
