New records of larval hostplants for ithomiinae butterflies (Nymphalidae) BJB
COSTA,F. A. P. L..
Seventeen new records of larval hostplants are given for Ithomiinae butterflies (Lepidoptera: Nymphalidae) in southeastern Minas Gerais, and one in Brasília, DF. At the present state of knowledge, generalizations about larval feeding habits of these insects may be premature.

Records of mining Lepidoptera in Belgium with nine species new to the country (Nepticulidae, Opostegidae, Tischeriidae, Lyonetiidae) Naturalis
Nieukerken, E.J. van.
Records of 56 species of mining Lepidoptera are given, mostly for Wallonia. Stigmella thuringiaca (Namur: Nismes, on Potentilla tabernaemontani), Ectoedemia arcuatella (Luxembourg, Namur, on Fragaria vesca) and Leucoptera lustratella (Luxembourg, Namur, on Hypericum perforatum) are reported new for Belgium on the basis of reared adults, Stigmella crataegella (Luxembourg: Belvaux, Crataegus monogyna), S. confusella (West Vlaanderen, Betula pubescens), Trifurcula subnitidella (Namur: Nismes, Lotus corniculatus), and Ectoedemia spinosella (Namur: Nismes, Prunus spinosa) are reported as new on the basis of vacated mines and Coptotriche heinemanni (on Agrimonia eupatoria) and C. gaunacella (on Prunus spinosa) are reported as new both from the province of...

Acalyptris Meyrick: revision of the platani and staticis groups in Europe and the Mediterranean (Lepidoptera: Nepticulidae) Naturalis
Nieukerken, E.J. van.
Trifurcula (Trifurcula) pallidella (Duponchel, 1843) is recorded for the first time from Spain, Andalusia. Previous records were misidentifications. Male genitalia are illustrated and a revised distribution map is provided. A few records of Trifurcula (Levarchama) species from the Annotated catalogue published in 2004 are corrected.

The butterflies of Sulawesi: annotated checklist for a critical island fauna Naturalis
Vane-Wright, R.I.; Jong, R. de.
All species and subspecies of butterflies recorded from Sulawesi and neighbouring islands (the Sulawesi Region) are listed. Notes are added on their general distribution and hostplants. References are given to key works dealing with particular genera or higher taxa, and to descriptions and illustrations of early stages. As a first step to help with identification, coloured pictures are given of exemplar adults of almost all genera. General information is given on geological and ecological features of the area. Combined with the distributional information in the list and the little phylogenetic information available, endemicity, links with surrounding areas and the evolution of the butterfly fauna are discussed.

Trifurcula pallidella (Duponchel, 1843) (Nepticulidae): distribution, biology and immature stages, particularly in Poland Naturalis
Niekerken, E.J. van; Mazurkiewicz, A.; Pałka, K..
Trifurcula pallidella (Duponchel, 1843) is recorded for the first time from 30 localities in south-eastern Poland. The biology is described and illustrated in detail for the first time: the larva makes spindle shaped galls in stems of Chamaecytisus spp., Lembotropis nigricans, and Cytisus procumbens. In Poland it is usually found on dry grassland or edges of woodland on calcareous soils. The larva, pupa and galls are described and illustrated. The distribution is revised and mapped on the basis of material and literature: its occurrence in Germany: Bavaria, Italy mainland and Sicily is confirmed, and new records are given for Corsica and Crete. It is widespread from Southeast Poland southwards throughout the Balkans and eastwards to the Volga, in the West...

Review of the subgenus Trifurcula (Levarchama), with two new species (Lepidoptera: Nepticulidae) Naturalis
Nieukerken, E.J. van.
The subgenus Trifurcula (Levarchama) is reviewed. It comprises seven species, two of which are described as new: Trifurcula (Levarchama) peloponnesica VAN NIEUKERKEN sp. n., found in Greece: Peloponnesus and feeding on Anthyllis hermanniae, and Trifurcula (Levarchama) manygoza VAN NIEUKERKEN, A. LAŠTŮVKA et Z. LAŠTŮVKA sp. n., from Croatia and northern Greece, feeding on Lotus corniculatus. The subgenus occurs throughout Europe and the Mediterranean, and all species make leafmines on Fabaceae: Loteae. All species are diagnosed and biology and distribution are discussed, including new hostplant and distributional records. The phylogeny is discussed on the basis of morphological characters and hostplant relationships are discussed. The Macaronesian T....

Trifurcula (Glaucolepis) lituanica sp. nov., an unexpected new stem-miner on Salvia pratensis occurring in eastern Europe (Lepidoptera: Nepticulidae) Naturalis
Ivinskis, P.; Nieukerken, E.J. van; Rimsaite, J..
Trifurcula (Glaucolepis) lituanica Ivinskis & van Nieukerken, sp. nov., is described from adults reared from stemmining larvae on Salvia pratensis (Lamiaceae) from Lithuania and some specimens taken as adults in Austria, Slovenia and Greece. In addition the new species is recorded from Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Romania. Superficially, it resembles Trifurcula (Glaucolepis) headleyella (Stainton, 1854), especially the male, but it differs by male genitalia with additional cornuti, a unique character for the subgenus, and the female genitalia differ by the larger number of convolutions in the ductus spermathecae. It is the only known Trifurcula to make its cocoon partially inside a stemmine. The synonymy of Nepticula dubiella Hauder, 1912 with...
