Загрязнение Геленджикской бухты ливневым стоком IBSS Repository

Проанализированы результаты гидрохимических съёмок в акватории Геленджикской бухты, выполненных с целью определения объемов загрязняющих веществ, выносимых ливневыми стоками. Установлено, что загрязнение морской воды проявляется в образовании отдельных линз с высокой концентрацией загрязняющих веществ вблизи источников загрязнения. В Геленджикской бухте коэффициент горизонтального обмена воды очень мал, поэтому пятна «грязной» воды сохраняются в течение длительного времени. Во время действия ветра, направленного с берега в море, загрязненная вода уходит в море, её замещает чистая вода открытого моря. Рассчитаны объемы сбрасываемых в бухту нефтепродуктов и тяжелых металлов.

Se presenta un diagnóstico sobre la calidad ambiental de la laguna costera El Doctor a partir de las principales variables físico químicas y microbiológicas indicadoras de la contaminación orgánica, su estado trófico e higiénico sanitario en tres campañas de muestreo realizadas entre febrero de 2006 y mayo y octubre de 2007. La laguna presenta un alto grado de contaminación orgánica, altos valores de nutrientes, así como, elevadas concentraciones de coliformes totales y fecales, y estreptococos fecales, los cuales, se encuentran por encima de los limites establecidos en las normas cubanas de calidad de agua para usos pesquero y recreativo (NC: 22-99 y NC: 25-99). Algae have been used as bioindicators by having several advantages such as they have short life cycles, they can take up nutrients directly from water, they are generally easy to collect in sufficient amounts from various habitats; and they readily accumulate compounds present in seawater, making tissue analyses reliable indicators of water quality. In order to evaluate the bioremoval capability of the green alga Rhizoclonium riparium, the photosynthetic responses to heavy metal pollution under different sublethal concentrations of copper was assessed. Photosynthetic rates were significantly low (p <0.05) at low copper concentrations, between (0.01 y 10 mg/l). This study aims to the evaluation of the microbial quality of the River Nile water at Damietta Branch. Water samples were taken from the branch, during the period from autumn, 2005 till the summer of 2006. Some environmental parameters such as temperature, transparency, depth and pH were monitored. In addition, the bacteriological analyses involved total viable bacterial counts (TVBCs), total coliforms (TC) and estimation of faecal coliforms (FC), faecal streptococci and pathogenic bacteria. The results of physicochemical parameters showed that the temperature values varied from 17°C to 25°C and the transparency from 40cm to 220cm. Nonpoint source (NPS) pollution from agriculture is the leading source of impairment to Survey Rivers and lakes. Pesticides are one of the major NPS pollutants that result from agricultural activities. Among those pesticides, is Bromoxynil (BRMX) which is a widely used herbicide. Tolerance tests with three refined petroleum products and edible mollusc - Tympanotonus fascatus (Linne) OceanDocs

The tolerance of Tympanotonus fuscatus (linne) to films and dispersions of three refined petroleum products has been investigated. The tolerance ranking was Diesel Oil > Kerosene > Petrol. The dispersions were more deleterious to the test animals by varying orders of magnitude. Responsiveness and the capacity for proper orientation were adversely affected with the latter being affected before the former. An indication of upper threshold values for two of the observed responses is presented.

Heavy metals distribution of soils around mining sites of cadmium-rich marine sedimentary phosphorites of Kpogamé and Hahotoé (Southern Togo) OceanDocs

Metal concentrations of 37 soil samples taken from mining areas (abandoned mine pits and transport routes) in Kpogamé and Hahotoé (southern Togo) range from 0.2-43 ppm for Cd, 15-115 ppm for Pb, 182-1,029 ppm for Cr, 18-356 ppm for Cu, 15-342 pm for Ni, 90-513 ppm for V, 35-536 ppm for Zn, 80-469 ppm for Zr and 266-3,161 ppm for Sr. The tropical alteration of the ore waste plays an important role in the distribution of trace elements in the studied soils. Because the alteration affects the element mobility, generally old abandoned mining areas, which , together with soils near the transport routes, show a higher degree of contamination. The concentration of hydrocarbons of petroleum in marine sediments in areas of industrial, harbour and fishing interest to the N of the island of Cuba, as the bays of Cienfuegos, Port Father, Guantánamo, Matanzas with special emphasis in Sagua La Grande and Havana. The results showed high levels of contamination for these organic compounds in the bay of Havana, with a medium 1 220 mg·kg-1 dry matter. The biggest accumulations were in the creeks of Marimelena and Atarés. A tendency exists to diminish the degree of contamination for petroleum in these sediments. It is presented an analysis of several indicators of water quality in Santiago de Cuba bay and of the bacteriological state in five of its beaches. Samples were taken in surface and 8 m deep. A low transparency of the waters was detected, associated with high levels of ammonium, total phosphorus and chlorophyll. In surface the dissolved oxygen had high levels, but in 8 m there was anoxia in the most interior stations. Entre los años 2001 y 2005, fueron evaluados los contenidos de oxígeno disuelto y de materia orgánica en la fase acuosa de las bahías de Cárdenas, Santa Clara, Puerto de Sagua la Grande, San Juan de los Remedios, Buena Vista, Los Perros, Jigüey y La Gloria. En el Puerto de Sagua la Grande y la zona costera de la bahía de Buena Vista se registraron concentraciones de oxígeno disuelto inferiores al valor de saturación en la época de lluvias. Predominaron los montos de materia orgánica expresados en términos de la demanda bioquímica de oxígeno (DBO5) entre 1,0 -2,0 mgO2/L, típicos de agua marina de calidad dudosa para uso pesquero, según la NC-25:99.
