Matière organique et pollution par les hydrocarbures dans les sédiments superficiels du golfe d'Arzew (mer Méditerranée, Algérie) ArchiMer
Buscail, R; Foudil-bouras, Ae; Pauc, H.
The distribution of global organic parameters (organic carbon, nitrogen, hydrolyzable carbon) was established in surficial sediments of the Gulf of Arzew. Moreover, humic substances, humin and hydrocarbons have provided information on the organic matter origin and evolution in the identified sedimentary areas: prodeltas at the mouth of the dry rivers Cheliff and Macta; muddy mid-deposits and carbonated shallow environments. The higher organic matter concentrations characterize the muddy mid-deposits and especially the western part located near the Arzew and Bethioua harbours (TOC > 0.9 %; Nt = 0.35 % d.w.). The marine origin of the organic matter is supported by low C/N ratios (5-9) in the total sediments and the position in the Van Krevelen diagram of...

The airborne identification of oil films at the Caspian sea surface using CO2 lidar ArchiMer
Osadchy, Vu; Shifrin, Ks; Gurevich, Iy.
Contrast in the reflectivity between pure and contaminated sea surfaces is the result of two effects, namely: (1) the different reflectivity of sea water and oil films on sea water, and (2) the damping effect by the oil film on the sea waves. The problem is to estimate the contribution of these two effects on the total contrast, so that the substance effect can be calculated. Magnitude is related to the oil film thickness. The spectral behaviour of the contrast and its relationship with the film thickness were calculated for an undisturbed sea surface. The estimate of the damping effect was made using the Cox and Munk's slope distributions for pure and contaminated surfaces. The method chosen was verified by a series of tests conducted over the Caspian Sea...

Les pollutions marines accidentelles. Au-delà du pétrole brut, les produits chimiques et autres déversements en mer ArchiMer
Marchand, Michel.
At every new marine pollution the same interrogations : to take action and in which way? What could be the consequences? At first, to know the behaviour of pollutants, hydrocarbon or chemicals. But the improvement of knowledges or expert appraisement will not be sufficient with regards to a liberal logic which is not interested in maritime safety.

Effets de pollutions par hydrocarbures sur les capacités de défense d'organismes marins ArchiMer
Bado Nilles, Anne.
The effects of PAHs, considered among the most toxic by the United States Environmental Protection Agency, were tested in vitro and in vivo on two commercial species of the Pertuis-Charentais (Charente-Maritime, France): sea bass, Dicentrarchus labrax, and the Pacific oyster, Crassostrea gigas. This study was carried out as part of the European project EROCIPS with the aim of finding new immunological biomarkers caused by occasional pollution by hydrocarbons. During in vitro experimentation, pollutants and immunological biomarkers were choosen. Thereafter, the in vitro exposures to the soluble fraction of Erika's heavy fuel oil and its fluxant, light cycle oil, began. These exposures enable the validation of the experimental system used, with, in...
