Since 2002, the European Union (EU) Members States collect, manage and supply data for the management of fisheries and specifically of discards. In this context, at-sea observer programmes collect data on-board fishing vessels on the composition and quantity of catch, including discards. Based on these data, this study aims to analyse the spatio-temporal distribution of landings and discards so as to contribute to their management. In doing so, a mapping method based on nested grids has been developed.
