Integration of Allelopathic Crop Residues and NPK Fertilizer to Mitigate Residue-Phytotoxicity, Improve Soil Fertility and Wheat Growth under Different Moisture Conditions Planta Daninha
FAROOQ,N.; IQBAL,M.; ZAHIR,Z.A.; FAROOQ,M..
ABSTRACT: Phytotoxic effects of allelopathic crop residues are important to trickle for their use as a source of organic amendments to improve soil fertility. In present study, through pots and two year field studies, we examined the integrated effect of allelopathic residues and NPK fertilizer treatments including T0 (control), T1 (200-150-100 kg NPK ha 1), T2 (100-75-50 kg NPK ha-1 + mung bean straw 4 t ha-1), T3 (100-75-50 kg NPK ha-1 + rice straw 4 t ha-1), T4 (mung bean straw 8 t ha-1) and T5 (rice straw 8 t ha-1) under different water regimes on soil fertility and wheat crop. Solo application of mung bean residue and rice straw caused significant inhibition of various germination and growth traits of wheat while minimal inhibition occurred when...

Physical and hydraulic properties of aridisols as affected by nutrient and crop-residue management in a cotton-wheat system - doi: 10.4025/actasciagron.v35i1.14683 Agronomy
Mahmood-ul-Hassan, Muhammad; National Agricultural Research Centre; rafique, Eajaz; National Agricultural Research Centre; Rashid, Abdul; National Agricultural Research Centre.
A 5-year cotton–wheat rotation field experiment was conducted on two alkaline-calcareous soils to investigate the impact of integrated nutrient-management and crop-residue incorporation on soil physical and hydrological properties. The nutrient treatments were: T1–farmers' fertilizer use; T2–balanced nutrient management (recommended N, P, Zn. and B from mineral sources); T3–integrated nutrient management, same as T2, except that 75% N was applied from fertilizer and 25% as FYM; and T4 same as T2, except that every alternate year, wheat was substituted by Berseem green manure. All treatments were compared with and without crop residue incorporation. Soil organic matter (SOM) content in both the soils was significantly increased with T2, T3 and T4 as...
