ABSTRACT Sugarcane is a very important crop in Brazil, used as food production and biofuel, providing 18% of the total primary energy in the country. An important requirement to high yield is a good uniformity in the sugarcane field, which is impaired due to row gaps that appear since the first year of sugarcane crop caused by planting failures, harvesting damages, machinery traffic, pests, diseases and others. The aim of this study is to develop a system based on a photoelectric sensor to scan the field, georeferencing gaps representing them as a map. We have developed a statistical gap-filling method adapted to the specific coverage and properties of observed fugacity of surface ocean CO2 (fCO2). We have used this method to interpolate the Surface Ocean CO2 Atlas (SOCAT) v2 database on a 2.5°×2.5° global grid (south of 70°N) for 1985–2011 at monthly resolution. The method combines a spatial interpolation based on a “radius of influence” to determine nearby similar fCO2 values with temporal harmonic and cubic spline curve-fitting, and also fits long-term trends and seasonal cycles. From the recent developments of data-driven methods as a means to better exploit large-scale observation, simulation and reanalysis datasets for solving inverse problems, this study addresses the improvement of the reconstruction of higher-resolution Sea Level Anomaly (SLA) fields using analog strategies. This reconstruction is stated as an analog data assimilation issue, where the analog models rely on patch-based and Empirical Orthogonal Functions (EOF)-based representations to circumvent the curse of dimensionality. Abstract: The objective of this work was to develop and provide a free web application able to generate thematic maps. The initiative aims to incorporate the functionalities of the “Software para Definição de Unidades de Manejo” (SDUM) desktop application, which has proven to be suitable for working with thematic maps and management zones, but that was only available for desktop computers. The developed web application was tested with real data from two agricultural fields located in the state of Paraná, Brazil.
