In 2018, the calculation of the DCE indicator "intertidal macroalgae" for FRFC11 water body "Basque coast" allowed to classify it as "Good" for this parameter in spring and “Medium” in autumn. This monitoring is the first data collection campaign in line with an evolution of the indicator and the MSFD needs: double sampling in spring and autumn, consideration of the fauna in quadrats and a taxonomic identification effort. These additional data are presented through the indicator Ics (Community Structure Indicator) but are not scored at this stage. The lack of canopy in the intertidal zone and the biogeography for this water body are two aspects that should be considered in the scales that will be applied to assess the conservation status of intertidal...
