Digestibility and fecal characteristics of dogs fed with Bacillus subtilis in diet Ciência Rural
Félix,Ananda Portella; Netto,Marina Volanski Teixeira; Murakami,Fabiane Yukiko; Brito,Cleusa Bernardete Marcon de; Oliveira,Simone Gisele de; Maiorka,Alex.
Considering the benefice demonstrated by the modulating action of probiotics on the host intestinal microbiota, this study aimed to evaluate diet digestibility and fecal characteristics of dogs fed with diets supplemented with Bacillus subtilis (C-3102). Twelve young Beagle dogs were distributed in a completely randomized experimental design consisting of two treatments: diet with no addition or with the addition of 0.01% Bacillus subtilis (C-3102). Dogs passed through 25 days of adaptation to the diets, and five days of total feces collection. The following fecal characteristics were evaluated: pH, fecal score (1 - watery feces; 5: dry and hard feces), and ammonia content. Diet mean digestibility was compared by the Tukey test, and fecal characteristics...

Efficacy of Savory Essential Oil Utilization in Conventional and Encapsulated Forms on Performance of Broiler Chickens Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Mousapour,A; Salarmoini,M; Afsharmanesh,M; Ebrahimnejad,H; Meimandipour,A.
ABSTRACT This survey aimed to evaluate the effects of dietary supplementation of different forms of savory essential oil (SEO) on growth performance, intestinal morphology and microbial population in broiler chickens. A total of 360 one-day-old male broilers were randomly allocated to 6 dietary treatment groups with 5 replicates per treatment and 12 birds per pen. The experiment consisted of a 2×3 factorial arrangement including two different forms [encapsulated SEO (ESEO) and nonencapsulated SEO (NSEO)] in three levels (0, 150, and 300 mg/kg diet) of SEO. Growth performance, jejunal morphology and intestine microbial population were examined. Our results revealed that feed intake was not influenced by the dietary treatments in different experimental...

Pascoal,Leonardo Augusto Fonseca; Thomaz,Maria Cristina; Watanabe,Pedro Henrique; Ruiz,Urbano dos Santos; Ezequiel,Jane Maria Bertocco; Amorim,Alessandro Borges; Daniel,Everton; Masson,Guido Carlos Iselda.
This experiment was carried out to evaluate the effects of purified cellulose, soybean hulls and citrus pulp in the diet of weaned piglets. A total of 72 piglets (36 castrated males and 36 females) weaned at 21 days of age (BW 6.45±0.66 kg) was distributed according to a randomized block design, for evaluation of performance, transit time, diarrhea incidence and blood parameters of piglets which received diets containing different sources of fiber. The experimental diets were: control diet - diet composed of corn, soybean meal and a source of lactose; control + 1.5% purified cellulose; control + 3% soybean hull and control + 9% citrus pulp. The inclusion of purified cellulose, soybean hulls and citrus pulp in diets of weaned piglets did not affect the...

Nutritional reduction of protein and usage of enzyme in the diet of light layers R. Bras. Zootec.
Lima,Matheus Ramalho de; Costa,Fernando Guilherme Perazzo; Goulart,Cláudia de Castro; Pinheiro,Sarah Gomes; Souza,Rafael Barbosa de; Morais,Sérgio Antonio de Normando; Lima,Raffaella Castro.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the reduction of protein, the formulation of diets and supplementation of an enzyme complex for laying hens. The layers were distributed in a completely randomized 2 × 2 × 2 factorial arrangement, with two levels of crude protein reduction (0.0 and 4.0 g/kg), two kinds of diet formulation (without and with reformulation, considering 75 kcal of metabolizable energy) and two enzyme supplementations (without and with enzyme complex supplementation), totalizing 8 treatments of 8 layers each, with 7 replications, in a total of 448 laying hens at 30 weeks of age. After data analysis, it was found that the enzyme complex supplementation in the diet of layers improves performance, promotes a similar egg quality and...

NON-STARCH POLYSACCHARIDES’ INFLUENCE ON DIGESTIBILITY AND NUTRIENTS AVAILABILITY FOR PIGS DIETS IN DIFFERENT PRODUCTION STAGES Sci. Agrar.Paran. / SAP

Purified cellulose, soybean hulls and citrus pulp as a source of fiber for weaned piglets Scientia Agricola
Pascoal,Leonardo Augusto Fonseca; Thomaz,Maria Cristina; Watanabe,Pedro Henrique; Ruiz,Urbano dos Santos; Amorim,Alessandro Borges; Daniel,Everton; Silva,Susana Zaneti da.
Dietary fiber is an important component, which has a direct effect on intake, digestion, and absorption of nutrients; and also alters intestinal microbiota and morphology according to solubility. One digestibility trial and one performance experiment were performed to evaluate the effects of sources of fiber in diets for 21 day weaned piglets. The experimental diets used in both trials consisted of a control diet and diets with purified cellulose, soybean hulls or citrus pulp as a main source of dietary fiber. To evaluate the digestibility of nutrients (Assay 1), the total feces and urine collection method was used. The fiber sources did not affect nutrient digestibility, except for soluble fiber, which increased with the inclusion of citrus (Citrus...
