LEBENSSTIL-ENTSCHEIDUNGSTYPOLOGIE DES ERNÄHRUNGSVERHALTENS – IMPLIKATIONEN FÜR DIE VERHALTENSPRÄVENTION AgEcon
Bruhn, Maike.
How can marketing theory be applied to policy design to deliver on sustainable agriculture in England? AgEcon
Barns, Sandra A.; Willoughby, B.E.; Kaine, Geoff; Lourey, R.; Murdoch, H..
Marketing theory was applied to develop a qualitative tool to predict levels of compliance based on involvement with the issue (policy objective) and involvement with the intervention (regulation). Based on an understanding farmer decision-making, the I3 Response Framework can help identify strategies that can strongly influence compliance, providing more efficient targeting of resources for policy. We report on further testing by application to the issue of water quality and the regulations around slurry storage as part of the Nitrate Pollution Prevention Regulations 2008 as applicable to dairy farmers in the Derwent catchment of North Yorkshire, England

Using involvement to understand responses to biosecurity AgEcon
Bewsell, Denise; Bigsby, Hugh R.; Cullen, Ross.
The effectiveness of biosecurity measures at national borders is influenced by the behaviour and levels of involvement of travellers. Involvement is the importance or relevance of an object or situation to an individual. Involvement helps regulate the way in which people receive and process information and thus influences the extent of information searching for decision making, and information processing and persuasion. In this study, we drew on the concept of involvement to investigate the response of individuals to New Zealand biosecurity requirements. A range of people associated with the agricultural and food processing sectors were surveyed using a five item scale of involvement to measure their level of involvement in biosecurity. The results...

EL CONSUMIDOR DE FRUTAS Y VERDURAS ECOLÓGICAS: HOMO EST TEMPERATUS AgEcon
Meneses, Gonzalo Dias; Rodriguez, Julia Nieves; Martel, Manuel Lopes.
The aim of this work is to analyze the model of consumer involvement with organic fruits and vegetables. An empirical survey was carried out using a 371 sample size questionnaire, which allowed for both path and multigroups analysis to be done. Based on the results obtained, we can affirm that the level of motivation to consume organic fruits and vegetables is intermediate, as the predominant motives are safety and self-realisation, and the volition model follows an inverse theoretical learning process. Furthermore, there is more than one model, since both gender and income influence significantly the involvement with organic food. Contradicting the predominant theoretical paradigm, this work tries to develop practical implications for organic food...

Are Traditional Cooperatives an Endangered species? About Shrinking Satisfaction, Involvement and Trust AgEcon
Nilsson, Jerker; Kihlen, Anna; Norell, Lennart.
Several researchers, who have observed that traditional cooperatives have difficulties in modern markets, mention a number of behavioral concepts characterizing the members. This study attempts to empirically test these concepts. It is based on a survey among members of a large traditional Swedish cooperative. The members perceive the cooperative to be so large and complex that they have difficulties understanding the operations. Hence, they become dissatisfied and uninvolved, and they mistrust the leadership. Moreover, they do not believe that the cooperative can be remodeled to strengthen member control. The findings support the behavioral explanations presented in prior studies.
