We studied greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (CH4 and N2O), agronomic performance and soil conditions in a grassland on an inverted peat soil that was earlier cultivated and tile-drained, and compared it with grassland on conventionally tile-drained peat. A neighbouring undrained peat was used as a reference for GHG emissions. Preliminary results (2-year field data) revealed reduced GHG emissions from the inverted peat relative to the tile-drained peat, mainly caused by lower CH4 emissions. Our data suggest that peat inversion can improve the agronomic feasibility of forage production in cool-moist areas with abundant organic soils, and can offer a way of agronomic adaptation to a climate with increased precipitation. Este trabalho foi conduzido com a finalidade de estimar as necessidades estocásticas de irrigação suplementar por aspersão na cultura da soja (Glycine max L. Merrill), nas regiões agroecológicas do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul, denominadas de Planalto Médio e Missões. As necessidades foram simuladas em relação à combinação entre locais, épocas de semeadura, níveis de manejo da irrigação e entre níveis de ocorrência . A agricultura é ponto forte no aspecto econômico da região Noroeste Paulista, onde é possível se encontrar plantações de seringueiras, cana-de-açúcar, frutíferas entre outras culturas, e uma forte produção pecuária. Há menos de 10 anos, não era prática comum na região a irrigação de pastagem, pois não havia o conhecimento dos benefícios que a irrigação poderia oferecer à pecuária. Os produtores de gado, principalmente de gado leiteiro, passavam por dificuldades na época de seca, sendo obrigados a vender grande parte das cabeças por não disporem de pasto para suportar tantas reses. Nesse trabalho, procuramos analisar a percepção do produtor de leite sobre o processo de irrigação de pastagem. |

The objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of the intercropping and irrigation frequencies in the leaf development and productivity of taro (Colocasia esculenta) under organic management. The experiment was set up as a randomized complete block design, a factorial 2 x 2, with four replications. Taro was cultivated in monoculture or intercropped with Crotalaria juncea under two irrigation frequencies: every 3.5 days for 30 minutes and every 15 days for 2 hours. The intercropping increased taro petiole length but did not increase leaf area. A certified organic farm has been developed for research and demonstration of organic production system for low rainfall/arid areas at central research farm, Central Arid ZOne Research Institute(CAZRI), Jodhpur,Rajasthan, INDIA. Rainwater harvesting, composting,enhancing agrodiversity, preparation of bio-pesticides are being done at farm. Improvement in fauna and flora diversity, soil organic carbon and other properties have been observed. Crop resilience increased to high climatic variability/changed climte. Presently research is going on to develop e system for high value crops of arid zone i.e. cumin, psyllium, sesame and cluster bean(Guar). Almost weekly, Farmers' groups visit and get hands on training on organic system. |

This research focused on evaluating the usefulness of an arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus (Glomus intraradices) and a plant growth-promoting rhizobacterium (Pseudomonas fluorescens) to maize growth under water deficit stress. The main objective of this study was to determine the impact of three organic strategies (organic compost, green manure and dry mulching) on soil’s physical behaviour, vine physiology and grapevine quality, from 2015 to 2017, within two vineyards: FF and SD. The degraded areas chosen had significant higher disruption of the soil, lower yield, but also lower quality of the grape. Der Anbau und die Verarbeitung von Kartoffeln zu Veredelungsprodukten hat sich im ökologischen Landbau im geringen Umfang etabliert. Zudem steigt die Nachfrage nach Convenience-Produkten wie Chips und Pommes frites. Bei einem an die Bedingungen des ökologischen Kartoffelbaus angepassten Management der Verarbeiter könnte der Anbau von Verarbeitungskartoffeln den Landwirten neue Einkommensquellen bieten.
