Revision of the enigmatic genus Gastralysia Fischer (Hymenoptera, Braconidae, Alysiinae) Naturalis
Achterberg, C. van; Tan, J.-L..
The enigmatic genus Gastralysia Fischer, 1967 (Hymenoptera: Braconidae: Alysiinae) and its type species, G. garambana Fischer, 1967, are redescribed and illustrated. The female is described for the first time. The position of the genus is discussed and the genus is placed in a new subtribus, Gastralysiina subtrib. n. The genus is reported new for Ivory Coast and Tanzania.

Gulella adami, a new species of land snail from the Ivory Coast, West Africa (Gastropoda Pulmonata: Streptaxidae) Naturalis
Bruggen, A.C. van.
Gulella adami spec. nov. is described from a classical West African locality, Assini in the Ivory Coast (Côte d'Ivoire). It is most unusual in showing two superficial parietal processes, which may also be interpreted as a double angular lamella, in the aperture of the shell. The shell closely resembles that of various Enidae in SE Europe and adjoining areas around the Mediterranean, thereby providing a striking example of convergent evolution.

Industrial Environment Dimension in the Process of Sustainable Development in Ivory Coast OceanDocs
Ohassane, K..
While industrial growth is mainly a function of market forces, governments actively pursue policies and activities to accelerate industrialization. These policies, directly or indirectly, affect the natural environment. Sound industrial and environmental policies are not incompatible, even though it is difficult task either to set and enforce at the same time environmental standard that do not have some negative impact on industrial development options, or to formulate industrial policies that take environmental issues fully into account. The objective of this study is to elaborate a national assessment for the purpose of the industrial environment overview in the process of sustainable development in Côte d’Ivoire which is a part of the systematic...

EXOGENOUS PRODUCTION SHOCKS AND TECHNICAL EFFICIENCY AMONG TRADITIONAL IVORIEN RICE FARMERS AgEcon
Sherlund, Shane M.; Barrett, Christopher B..
This paper uses a unique panel data set and data envelopment analysis (DEA) to obtain estimates of technical efficiency for 492 traditional rice plots in Côte d'Ivoire. The objective of this paper is to explore the importance of explicitly controlling for exogenous shocks to production in technical efficiency estimation. We show how omission of such variables in highly stochastic production environments can lead to serious inferential errors, with potentially significant policy implications. Conventional DEA estimation of a production frontier, followed by second-stage Tobit estimation of the correlates of plot- level technical efficiency, suggest widespread and substantial inefficiency related to crop fragmentation and seed varieties. However, when...
