TAO par syntaxeur parallele ArchiMer
Diaz, C.
In remote control, the master element which the user operates looks for practical and historical reasons like the slave arm and therefore features a series architecture, with a few drawbacks in terms of mass, dimensions, rigidity and mechanical complexity. To remedy these defects, we are now introducing a new master element with parallel kinematics. This syntactor, derived from Steward's manipulators, has six degrees of freedom and comprises six motor-driven links arranged on a fixed plate (the base) and a moving plate on which a 6-axis force transducer and a handle are mounted. The device is made artificially free along a few or all axes by means of a hybrid position/force control software which translates the wrench of forces applied by the operator on...

Un modèle général de d'évolution de l'océan indien ArchiMer
Sahabi, Mohamed.
The last global synthesis of the evolution of the Indian ocean which satisfactorily describes the kinematics of the five major plates, up to the initial stages, dates back to Norton and Sclater [1979]. Although the most recent phases of evolution have been largely detailed, in particular in the proximity of the triple junction, the initial stages of evolution have been generally described by models quite speculative and generally only constrained by pairs of plates. The recentmost gravity data based on the altimetric satellites SEASAT, GEOSAT and ERS1 [Sandwell and Smith, 1992] give an homogenoeus image of sea-floor topography. These data, declassified to the south of 30°S, reveal previously unknowkn features of the sea-floor fabric and allow to further...

Pyrenean orogeny and plate kinematics - art. no. B08104 ArchiMer
Sibuet, Jean-claude; Srivastava, Sp; Spakman, W.
The evolution of the Pyrenees, a mountain range between Iberia and Eurasia, has remained the subject of many debates between geologists and geophysicists for a long time. By combining the identification of seafloor spreading anomalies A33o to M0 in the Bay of Biscay with those in the North Atlantic, we have derived a position of a mean pole of rotation for the entire opening of the Bay of Biscay. Four hundred kilometers of shortening took place between the Iberian and Eurasian plates in the Pyrenean domain during the opening of the Bay of Biscay, from chrons M0 to A33o time (118 to 80 Ma). The deep seismic Etude Continentale et Oceanique par Reflexion et refraction Sismique (ECORS) profile shot across the Pyrenees and teleseismic data show the presence of...

Geodynamics of the South China Sea ArchiMer
Sibuet, Jean-claude; Yeh, Yi-ching; Lee, Chao-shing.
The beginning of seafloor spreading in the South China Sea (SCS) is now established from IODP drilling Leg 349 at 33 Ma. Chron 12 (32 Ma) is the oldest chron identified in the SCS. The nature of the crust of the northeastern part of the SCS located north of chron C12, where chrons 15 to 17 were previously identified, is not oceanic but thinned continental crust intruded by volcanic elongated features emplaced 17-22 Ma ago. Based on magnetic anomalies identifications, the end of the SCS spreading could be either 15.5, 20.5 Ma (Briais et al., 1993; Barckhausen et al., 2014) or something else. However, as post-spreading magmatic activity (~ 13-3.5 Ma) largely masks the spreading fabric in particular near the axis of the east sub-basin, published locations of...

Comment on "Zemmouri earthquake rupture zone (M-w 6.8, Algeria): Aftershocks sequence relocation and 3D velocity model" by A. Ayadi et al. ArchiMer
Deverchere, Jacques; De Lepinay, Bernard Mercier; Cattaneo, Antonio; Strzerzynski, Pierre; Calais, Eric; Domzig, Anne; Bracene, Rabah.
Although often difficult to characterize, the relationship between a seismic rupture, its aftershock sequence, and cumulative subsurface or surface faulting or folding is an important challenge to modern seismology and seismotectonics. Among other benefits, it helps document fault length, slip, and magnitude relationships, reconstruct the evolution of the rupture process through historical and prehistorical times and identify the complexity of the deformation in its path toward the surface. This approach is a prerequisite to any seismic hazard assessment but is particularly difficult for faults whose surface trace projects offshore. A specific effort to identify and quantify the source parameters of large earthquakes in coastal areas is therefore needed,...

Posterior Slope of Tibial Plateau in Adult Nigerian Subjects International Journal of Morphology
Didia,Blessing C; Jaja,Blessing N. R.
Normal values of the tibial slope are necessary for realignment of displaced fractures of the tibia crest, repair of cruciate ligaments and correction of knee deformities. True lateral radiographs of normal knees were obtained in 119 males and 93 female Nigerian subjects. The tibial slope was then measured according to the anterior tibial cortex method. Mean angle in sampled subjects was 12.3 ± 4.90 (range: 0-240). Sex differences were statistically insignificant (p>0.05). This study provides reference values of tibial slope among indigenous adult Nigerians. It also highlights on the clinical relevance of the angle and the need to establish normal ranges in other African populations.

Feeding behavior of the Neotropical freshwater stingray Potamotrygon motoro (Elasmobranchii: Potamotrygonidae) Neotropical Ichthyology
Shibuya,Akemi; Zuanon,Jansen; Tanaka,Sho.
The feeding mechanisms of elasmobranchs and their functioning have been receiving growing scientific attention, although less emphasis has yet to be directed towards batoid species. The present study investigated the use of orobranchial musculature during prey capture and processing behavior in Potamotrygon motoro. Ten orobranchial muscle groups were removed to determine their relative biomasses. The kinematics of the musculature was described based on videos of prey capture and manipulation under captive conditions recorded at 250 and 500 field/s. Analyses of the orobranchial musculature indicated that adductor muscles responsible for closing the mouth had high biomasses, which is consistent with their functions related to apprehend and manipulate the...

Poultry litter angle of wall friction CIGR Journal
Iman Valaei; Seyed Reza Hassan-Beygi; Mohammad Hossein Kianmehr; Hadi Rahmanzadeh Bahram.
Dependence on chemical fertilizer is continually increasing.  Continual increasing of using chemical fertilizer causes nature pollution (e.g. water contamination).  This has led researchers to aggressively investigate renewable fertilizer resources and biomass to produce organic crops and reduced wastage.  Poultry litter is a bulk solid and biomass feed stocks. The angle of wall friction (AWF) is a critical factor in designing and constructing suitable equipment for pelletizing.  The results of this study showed that the simple effects of the moisture content (M) and surface types (S) as well as interaction of the S × particle size (P) and S × M were significant (P

Transpressive dextral shear in the Italva-Itaperuna section, Northern State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Anais da ABC (AABC)
Karniol,Tiago R.; Machado,Rômulo; Dehler,Nolan M..
Structural analysis carried out on a segment of the Neoproterozoic Ribeira Belt, southeastern Brazil, show that it represents part of the transpressive dextral orogen related to the Central Mantiqueira Province. NNE-trending and steeply dipping regional mylonitic belts form anastomosed geometry, and describe a map-scale, S-C-like structure that is characterized by their deflection towards NE near the Além Paraíba Lineament. Lithological and structural control related to deformation partition were responsible for the formation of felsic mylonitic granulites with S-type granites lenses developed in ductile shear zones, alternated with less deformed intermediate to basic granulites associated with charnockites. The dextral shear sense indicators are...

Biomechanical analysis of the masticatory movement before and after adjusting dental occlusion in equine Arq. Bras. Med. Vet. Zootec.
Paiva Neto,A.O.; Leite,C.T.; Duarte,C.A.; Dias,D.P.M.; Döwich,G.; Queiroz Neto,A.; Lacerda Neto,J.C..
ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to evaluate through three-dimensional kinematic analysis the influence of occlusal adjustment by tooth wear in masticatory biomechanics of horses. Seven clinically healthy thoroughbred Arabian horses with strong occlusal irregularities were used, of which seven castrated males and one female of between seven and nineteen years of age. Three digital video cameras and seven spherical reflective markers placed on the horses’ face were employed. The animals were filmed twice in succession: while chewing hay before and after the occlusal adjustment by tooth wear. Following that, kinematic analysis was made of the movements obtained by means of the images which were synchronized, segmented and reconstructed three-dimensionally...
