Carbon, light organic matter and oxidizable organic fractions in alley cropping system PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira
Guareschi, Roni Fernandes; Pereira, Marcos Gervasio.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the levels of total organic carbon (TOC) of the soil, light organic matter (LOM) in water and oxidizable fractions of organic carbon in a cultivated area of maize in the alleys Flemingia macrophylla under different managements of their shoot. The study area is located in “Agroecological Fazendinha in Seropédica city, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The experimental design was randomized blocks with three treatments and eight replications, consisting of the following treatments: control (corn cultivation with no alleys); cultivation of maize in alley cropping with pruning to 0,6 m high and growing maize in alley cropping system without pruning. In each area composite samples were collected at 0-5 cm. The presence of...

Organic matter fractions in soil under coffee with split applications of phosphorus and water regimes AGRIAMBI
Araújo,Larissa G.; Figueiredo,Cícero C. de; Borges,Inácio B.; Ramos,Maria L. G.; Rocha,Omar C.; Guerra,Antonio F..
Phosphorus fertilization and irrigation management are essential practices to increase coffee yields, though information is scarce about the effect of these practices on organic matter fractions of soils of the ‘Cerrado’ (savanna-like vegetation). The purpose of this study was to evaluate organic matter fractions of a clayey Oxisol under coffee with split applications of phosphorus (P) and water regimes. The experimental design was a randomized block with 3 x 2 factorial arrangement with three split applications of P (P1: 300 kg ha-1 P2O5 applied annually of which 2/3 applied in September and 1/3 in December; P2: 600 kg ha-1 P2O5 applied at planting and every two years, and P3: 1800 kg ha-1 of P2O5 applied only at planting, corresponding to a 6-year...

Soil organic matter pools under management systems in Quilombola Territory in Brazilian Cerrado AGRIAMBI
Nascimento,Robervone S. de M. P. do; Ramos,Maria L. G.; Figueiredo,Cícero C. de; Silva,Antonio M. M.; Silva,Stefany B.; Batistella,Gilmar.
ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to evaluate the stable and labile fractions of soil organic matter and carbon (C) management index in cultivated areas with conservation and conventional management used by Quilombola farmers in the Goiás state, Brazil. The management systems were studied in the areas of Cerradão: Native Cerrado; Pasture; Conventional grain cultivation; Conservation cultivation of perennial crop; and in the sensu stricto Cerrado: Native Cerrado; Natural pasture; Conventional grain cultivation; Conventional cultivation of perennial crop. The study was considered as observational, with five replicates. Total organic C, fractions of humic substances, labile C and C management index were determined. The Cerradão phytophysiognomy had the...

Oxidizable carbon fractions in Red Latosol under different management systems Rev. Ciênc. Agron.
Guareschi,Roni Fernandes; Pereira,Marcos Gervasio; Perin,Adriano.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the oxidizable fractions of organic C in a Red Latosol in an area of cerrado under a no-tillage system (NT) with different years of implantation, and to compare them to areas of native cerrado and pasture. The experimental design used was completely randomized with five replications. Treatments consisted of five areas: native cerrado (NC) "stricto sensu"; pasture (PA) planted with Brachiaria decumbens; NT with 3 (NT3); NT with 15 (NT15) and NT with 20 (NT20) years of implantation. There was an increase in the ground-surface mass of vegetable residue as a function of the time of implantation of the NT. An increase in C content and the carbon-management index (CMI) can be seen as a function of the time of implantation of...

Oxidizable fractions of soil organic carbon in Caatinga forest submitted to different forest managements Ciência Rural
Batista,Suellen Gomes Monteiro; Barreto-Garcia,Patrícia Anjos Bittencourt; Paula,Alessandro de; Miguel,Divino Levi; Batista,Willyan Charles Amaral.
ABSTRACT: One of the main alternatives for the rational exploitation of the Caatinga biome’s natural resources is sustainable forest management. Soil organic carbon (SOC) and its fractions can be used to evaluate the conservation status of forest ecosystems after anthropic interventions. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the short-term effect of different forest management practices on the distribution of SOC fractions in the Caatinga area located in Contendas do Sincorá National Forest (BA). Three forest management practices (clear cutting, selective cutting by diameter and selective cutting by species) were evaluated, using the unmanaged Caatinga as a control. Soil samples were collected at the 0-10cm depth. The SOC was fractionated...
